Dont get me wrong...I am a fan, especially regarding connecting rural ... but what ICASA loophole is being used to import this kit. My understanding is that any kit transmitting requires type approval no?

monthly fee roughly equivalent to $99 (R1,906)

I read that you need to enable roaming for additional $200pm to get the kit to work here?

It is very easy to import a non icasa approved phone. I am sure they wont intercept and detain any starlink equipment.

Starlink hands-on tested in South Africa — Great for streaming, gamers will have to wait

SpaceX's Starlink Internet service performs reasonably well in South Africa, even without official availability and when tested in a location with significant operational issues.

We recently got our hands on a "Dishy", the unofficial name given to the Starlink satellite antenna by the service's growing community of users.
Good article!

If they can sort the latency issue somehow

Sidenote: I Hur, hur, hur @ when even Zim gets Starlink before SA does.
Useless guavament muppets!

If ANC is taking instructions from Chinese and Russians, they might not want an independent internet service in South Africa.

Hi
Not at all, there are quite a few type of roaming options. But our package connects you anywhere on the African continent. If you want to go to another continent you would have to pay the additional roaming option also not yet available

Wanted to know where the Hubs are located, but see it's everywhere except SA:

One of the major reasons for the high latency was that the nearest Starlink ground station was in Kigali, Rwanda, where Starlink is already officially available

What frequency and modulation technique does Starlink make use of? Is it region specific?
