We must have free DStv and mobile data for SA because of coronavirus – ICASA

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has requested mobile operators and pay-TV providers to make their services free for the duration of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

“In light of the recent developments with regards to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, ICASA has written to licensees in an effort to ensure that they make communication services available to all South Africans.”

In other words.....
"ICASA wants all pay-tv providers, to not sell their product and rather just close their doors."

They will at best suspend subscription charges to the cheapest bouquets and then claw them back over time.
I guess that would apply to existing subscribers only as we can't have an army of dish installers installing new dishes everywhere.

Hahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahaha

Dstv announced already yesterday that their news service channels will be open for all over the Dstv Now service for the duration of the virus pandemic.
That really is all that would be needed and contain information relevant to the problem.

What a stupid thing to ask for free DSTV. Are people going to all buy decoders and install satellite dishes to get 1 month free dstv?

if you are an existing DSTV subscriber what sport are you going to watch on weekends if sporting events have been cancelled?

Lets get the free electricity right first, then we can power all our free smartphones and tablets and watch all our free entertainment, in our free houses. Cos ya know this is Africa and we deserve everything for nothing.
