There are staff in our local branch sitting on chairs behind the counters. Some days 3 or 4 people come in to query undelivered mail or missing parcels. Nobody buys stamps, pays accounts. Since the SASSA payments stopped, there is nothing to do

You can pay the same accounts and much more 50m away at Checkers cash counter. Lot less bureaucracy

It will arrive (if you're lucky) back in PE after about a year with a note saying it wasn't collected.

Just when COVID started I sent a small parcel to Malaysia. After about 3 months someone from JHB contacted me and said that overseas deliveries could not be done as flights were canceled. I told them to hold the package and send it on when deliveries resume. Another 3 months and they called me again and at that point I opted for them to send the parcel back to me, which I duly got about a week later.
At that point they could still deliver, albeit not in the way it was originally intended. I won't mention further details as this might be seen as being racist.

Post Office should rather close down. They are totally useless and pathetic. I dont use them because I don't trust them. The staff doesn't know or care zero about customer service.
According to me they doesn't exist.

Definitely a 19th century anachronism. Unhelpful staff. Computers off-line. No working phones in the office.
They advertise services they are unable to deliver, like sending money to any PO. Hand in the money and that is the last you hear. They cannot check the routing, so they write a letter and stick a stamp on it

No one listens, no one cares.
The idiots don't see the end of the line will eventually reach them. It's already happening. Just not fast enough for my ever shrinking wallet

Got a quote for R353.20 for courier plus R800 for insurance on an R10200 graphics card for local South African delivery. Where are you guys getting affordable pay as you go courier services? Could never use SAPO for anything other than letters and that isn't going well.

They earn a salary, because most of them exist and and can manage to "clock" in and out.

Record for being quick or for being slow? You have to be specific when it comes to the PO.
 Slow. Previously my record for inbound was 5 months. Same as my slowest outbound which was 5 months via sea mail to the Philipines.

They definitely discriminate between parcels coming from wish.com and those that do not. You can expect orders from wish.com in about 2 weeks. Other sources seem to be 2 to 7 months.

Had to fetch a parcel at PO. Got there and they only accepted cash - it was load shedding.
