VAT at 50% will mean a SASSA pensioner will have to feed, clothe and pay for essentials with R945 per month. I suppose you can survive on that?
"the revolution will follow soon after"

the country is bankrupt, taxing some more to feed others just delays the inevitable, print magic money to pay for disastrous social grants and inflation spikes making everyone poorer etc

it is not about what I can or can't survive on, it is about the revolution in bringing it ASAP before there's nothing left to save or rebuild

And your head won't be in a basket after a revolution? Be very careful what you wish for.

The rot is seemingly so endemic and entrenched in the governmental worker sector, that a person which doesn't engage in corrupt activities, is applauded!
Sad that this is what we have become, but hey forget the schadenfreude its how democracy works, the people get what the people want..

VAT increase, check. Wealth Increase, check. National Health Insurance, check. Income Tax increase, check.

Yep, middle class is f@$k.
The middle class is indeed being f***ed.
It's happening all over the world atm and governments and big corporates are at the forefront; using crisis after crisis to justify this abhorrent transfer of wealth.

The problem in SA is perfectly enshrined in the following link: https://www.news24.com/news24/south...n-the-day-of-babita-deokarans-murder-20220908

My one mate worked as a paramedic for the Dept. of Health a few years back. He was looking for his boss one day and found him behind his office cutting up stretchers and loading them on the back of his personal bakkie for scrap metal. It's all completely rotten.

We can't afford BIG and we can't afford NHI. If you stop stealing we might see more economic growth though as there'd be more money to go around and less stuffed into matrasses and couches.

Why don't we just go full communist? Let the benevelant state supply us all with a house, car, food and electric and we will work for the glory of the state 7 days a week, with only May day and Karl Marx's birthday off
