@websquadza having an issue with the default cloudflare dns for the past few days, getting disconnected from the playstation network constantly with the error code "lost communication with the server, this is a dns error". Using Google's dns and seems to be stable.

This is interesting considering that cloudflare have a local DNS resolver in KZN (and seeing 0 loss to this) and Google's is up in JHB. Have you tried Quad9 (also local to KZN)? Could be something to do with stale records?

Quad9 seems to be stable as of the past hour, switching back to cloadflare gave me the error again within 15 min so not sure what's up there but will keep an eye on things with Quad9.

Fun and games again with this hop @websquadza

We've isolated where the issue is. In a stroke of very bad luck, the replacement device we brought online on Saturday Night/Sunday morning started showing errors on the physical ports, a sign of bad optics causing issues here... We're working on a solution to create as little disruption as possible. As soon as we're ready to go, we'll send a notification out. Thanks for your patience here.

@websquadza OK now having issues with both Quad9 and Google's dns with the same DNS error. Both my PS4 and PS3 refuse to connect to the PSN network at all but works perfectly when using mobile data. Also having issues with streaming crunchyroll as I get constant buffering at 1080p but works fine on mobile.

Sorry for the late response here.

We've seen this kind of notice from them before, but never ones that explicitly say you'll be down for 3 days. These maintenance notices usually mention sporadic outages while services are cleaned/repaired. We've sent our account manager a message to find out more.
Has vumatel perhaps said anything?

I hope it's soon. It was up to 14% loss at one point - absolutely destroys gaming / streaming when it gets bad.

Have you checked your line for packet loss? Not seeing any issues on the PSN network and KZN isn't showing any issues that could cause this.

I've been having the same on Vumatel Trenched here in Cape Town

Edit: More clarification, I've been having packet loss like crazy the past few days on CSGO - the only game I have been playing lately, so I can't speak for any others.

Seeing loss on that hop from the Vuma handover to us (.237.161). Will ask the team to get on Vuma’s case.

@websquadza is this the same machine/device that's causing the packet loss? I see the IP's are different:

Yup, still starting at that 3rd hop. We're scheduled to be at Teraco this evening to make a few small adjustments and add hardware, then move traffic over in the early am. Should be hitless, but still keeping it out of office hours.
