I guess all we can do is just wait it out.

Hopefully we will have fibre before the end of the year. :crylaugh:

Let me know if you get any further feedback from them and vice versa.

Will do.

Seems like Openserve has taken Parow North out of the Furture Fibre category.

Now just shows ADSL on their coverage map.

Webafrica called me yesterday after I sent them an email asking whats happening, explained to them the situation that one week we were listed for future fibre and were able to do pre orders on their site and now we cant - The lady promised to check with the powers that be there and she phoned my back now and says the feedback she received from the relevant department is that we are certainly slated for future fibre and the consensus is that it is an openserve coverage map stuff up. ETA 1-6months.

make of that what you will LOL. Ill remain optimistic.

Great news. Thanks for posting your feedback. I will remain quietly optimistic as well.
Already resigned myself to having crappy internet for the next 12 months anyway. Anything sooner will be a bonus.

3 months on.... all I hear is crickets....Nothing.

On the bright side, I see we only need 722 more signups on Vumatel for them to roll out Fibre.

Will be just in time for 2022 world cup then..:(

Seems like Openserve is still busy with trenching. They started on my side of Parow North (Herbert Baker). So still seems like a long wait.

What I cant understand is why they cant start and actually finish a place. They will lay cable today and only 5 months later will anyone connect the cable etc. Really seems like a waste of time. But that is Telkom/Openserve I guess.

well, as long as they are working its progress, I didnt know that they were even busy in PN anymore. The PN community group now has a FTTH group for updates on the progress on telegram, not sure if you are a member on there or not .

It seems that the fibre group (as well as the community group) for PN is split between PN Upper and PN Lower. Seeing as how I am in PN upper, I could not get access to the FTTH group or the other ones. :-(

On a lighter note, got this from Webafrica today:

Since we’re now at the 5 month mark for your Fibre installation, we’ve escalated your order with our Fibre Network Provider for a second time. We apologise for the delay – we know how excited you are for your Fibre, and we assure you once your Fibre is up and running you’ll see why it was worth the wait.

We Won’t Leave You Guessing

We want you to know exactly what is happening, so as soon as we receive any further information from our Fibre Network Provider we will contact you immediately.

Have Any Questions?

If you need to talk to our team, please email us at fibresupport@webafrica.com or give us a call on our dedicated Fibre line on 086 000 9583. For now, know that there is nothing more you need to do, so you can sit back and relax and wait for your Fibre to arrive.

Keep well!

The Webafrica Team

Why would you escalate if fibre is not active yet. (shakes head...)

Hello All.

I live in the upper part of Parow North and there was Openserve Bakkies and Maintenance trucks there this weekend so looks like Openserve might have installed their fibre. They were digging up sidewalks and street corners, so maybe the people got lucky with some orders.

Hi.

Spoke to the guy that was there and he said it was normal copper cable they were laying for telephone lines.
Don't know how accurate that was.

I live down the the road from where they were working so decided to go and have a chat.

Dont know why they would be laying new copper in this day and age though.
