WebAfrica YT Slowdown in late afternoon/evenings

Hi All,

Has anyone else on WebAfrica (Yes, I know... but I've not had a single issue with them in the last 3 years) noticed dismal YouTube speeds in the late afternoon to early evening?

I have a 500mbps fibre line with Vuma trenched and starting from around 5:30ish pm my YouTube videos begin buffering more frequently. Looking at 'stats for nerds' it's showing an abysmal +-1400kbps for 'connection speed'. If I switch my connection over to my VPN it begins to work 100% again, albeit it at VPN speeds.

@WebAfrica Helper do you perhaps know if there's an ongoing issue with peering/routing to google services?

That is peak times.
I remember in ADSL days the exchanges would be overloaded. I guess this must happen to fibre as well?

It does but is becoming the norm now as the ISPs are cutting back expenses and taking the clients for a p03s as usual
