I would like to see 5 and 10 GIG pre-paid accounts though :)

Also why does their pre-paid local option have no price in ? Is it free :D

Yes, thats true but it used to be R345 and then there was a sudden price increase a few months ago. I emailed them when we heard about the reductions from Telkom and they informed me that no decreases are planed

WTF so does that mean that they sell gigs at R49 (10X49 = 490). So what does Telkom sell a gig for to the isp's??

BTech, fixed cap prices are never calculated at a (wholesale * cap size) price, overselling allows us to reduce rates by factoring in average usage. It's also worth pointing out that our that the 10GB accounts also include 5 e-mail accounts and 4 simultaneous sessions.

R49 per gb, we wish hehe! We calculate the cost based on actual usage of the 10GB account BTech :)

What do you mean by 5 and 10GB prepaid accounts? Those are fixed accounts? If you would like 5 or 10GB's then you can purchase that many GB's when you order. Then when you run out, re-order

The local options' prices are as follows: http://webafrica.co.za/solutions/internet_access_adsl_local.html

I think you are a bit confused here, you do not pay for the prepaid account, you get it for free, its the bandwidth you pay for

You think the other SAIX resellers would have announced something by now but they - with the obvious exception of WA (and a couple IS ones) - have been distressingly silent. Last month's cuts in the wholesale rate seems to have eluded the consumer.

Now you know.......for better or worse......I'll stick with WebAfrica as long as it takes.....Ive only got "good" to talk about these guys...Keep it up ;)

SAOL had a 10GB account for R499 for a while now.

Doesnt matter...I was a customer of theirs for about 3 month...Sh!ttest service ive ever had....no offence...I rather pay more for "decent" service...ie as WebAfrica's

I totally agree. I'd rather pay slightly more and have the excellent service and support that Web Africa offers.

I've only had one experience with SAOL. A while back I was desperate for a new account. No one was available when I called. I left a message but they never bothered to call me back, so they lost me as a customer (for good).

Another way of looking at it is, instead of calling it a "pre-paid" account, rather call it a "backup" account....If you dont use it...it carries over :)

I think I'll be switching back to WA before the year is out. They were my first ADSL ISP and never experienced any problems with them. Lets see what happens with the local capping structure though.
