Budget? Requirements?

I don't really have a budget. As for requirements, well I need like a 10 page website, which must allow for document attachments, video attachments etc.

So nothing basic but nothing too demanding as well.

I will of course brief the person with details once I know who to approach.

Why not give it go yourself?

There are plenty of places, and lots of online guides and how-to's.

You can be up and running in 15 minutes at www.squarespace.com, for example. There are dozens and dozens of others.

Ok not sure what you mean.

Ok I don't have time to design it myself. It's more worth it if I'd just hand it to some designer. Thanks for the suggestions though.

What don't you understand about his question? I'm not sure I can ask it any better.

Without knowing more, no one can basically help you. You might need a custom developed website or you could use something that already exists that meets your needs.

What don't you understand about my statement. It means I don't understand the difference between designing and building a website. Yeah I'm a newbie in this hence me starting this thread asking for advice.

 Think about it. If you pay someone to design anything at all for you - buildings, cars, shoes, business cards etc. - would you implicitly expect them to physically realise the designs?

Designing something and building something are two different things. Not just when discussing websites.

A designer can design > fonts, interface etc.
A developer does logic > how to store those attachments etc.

I think it's even simpler:

Designer: delivers a PSD file and some images of your designed website
Developer: builds you a website based on the brief and design documentation you provide

Not sure why you're confused, that I am confused ( and ignorant if I may add).

So designing and building are two different parts of the website, then just direct me to to a person/company that does it, be it an all in one person or two separate, I don't really care.

To remind you sir, this is the part of the forum where members ask questions, to seek suggestions/answers to problems. It is not the know-it-all section.

Generally, the person or business that you pay to build your website will also be responsible for its design. You're not looking for a web designer technically, but a developer who can handle basic design work.

Did you message Thor187? If he can't help you, he might at least be able to point you in the right direction.

I think you're somewhat mistaken.
For the most part I take designer to be someone who does basic layout, graphics, CSS, html etc.
Developer is more in-depth coding, database etc.

I'm not trying to box in the job description, but rather give a general idea of what they usually do in a freelance and standalone capacity.

If a web designer is part of a team, then I would expect a lot more from them.
