Hi

This weekend was probably my WORST ever with this iBurst rubbish.

I have just over 400 megs left on my account, and I am getting capped speeds

Anyone else experiencing this nonsense?

same here, kei. No more than 6.7k on single threads. bittorrent is unusable, and i'm on the 9gb package with cap to spare (freudian typo: i wrote "0 gb package" subconciously ;-(

Not trying to confuse things, but today has been one of the best connections and speed I've had this month so far, mostly at 1mbps or over. :)

Reached my cap I assume since it slowed down to 7kb - 8kb and seems stable enough as a capped connection. :D

Forgot to mention besides the above the rest of July was the worst I've had it so far, apart from the fact I could not see how much BW I had till the cap.
The webpage still says I have 1.02gb left but it has to be wrong.

Agreed SToF. Seems everything is back to normal. WBS is worse than telkom with this cap story.

At 10pm Sunday I tried to work. The only thing that worked was ping. No web, e-mail, ssh or skype.

This morning everyhting is up.

The problem I have with stuff like this is the lack of communication. Now while this may have been some real problem... because WBS does not communicate with us I can't help feeling that they were trying to save some bandwidth at the end of the month. You all had bandwidth left... WBS knew this and they knew you were all going to try use it. I know it sounds like a paranoid whacko theory but because it was the end of the month and because it was WBS.... I think its totally possible.

Out of interest how are your speeds today? Are you getting your 1mbit?

LCE .. if you were capped at that time you had a different issue to the general pathetic bandwidth issue here.

WBS are aware of a "dead after cap" issue but have not made any progress on resolving it

regardtv,

Thanx for your comment because again the helpdesk got a million other stories about my side being broken and not something on their side.

I had about 1.04 Gb left of Friday Evening, and on Sunday I pulled down stuff with the rest of my cap at full speed. On multi-threaded downloads I was getting roughly 107 kilobytes/sec. I love living in Roodepoort again :)

I AM in Roodepoort- Sorry but I had no performance this weekend. I am considering moving now to a different area so that I can get ADSL. I am tired of battling with this nonsense. iBurst were capping users like me this weekend and I agree with Slimothy's theory. Torrents were dead as a doornail, and I did a test on that internet frog website. The figures I got were WORSE than a 28800bps modem. Everything else except that stupid iBurst page loads extremely slow, which to me is enough proof that they're throttling the pipe to the internet

rubbish, they dont even acknowledge the problem, how can you say they're aware of it.. maybe some helpdesk guy is but the company as a whole still maintains they have no idea

I am going to take a guess and suggest that Luis Chin @ WBS is more than aware of the problem, WBS might not be acknowledging that it is causing problems for customers, but WBS are certainly aware of the problems being experienced by customers, the question you have to ask yourself is whether WBS cares about its customers...
