Correct you need an on camera pop up flash for it to work or a master flash on the camera... Silhouettes will work because you can set the pop up flash to fire and just trigger the off camera flash and not add any light into the pic...
Thats if the off camera flash picks up the flash behind the backdrop.

Agreed! Captures the "mood" but I would say sepia tones would work better with the subject/content you used!
It actually does look somewhat better in Sepia, But then I wouldn't have an entry this week :) The original idea was given to my by my brother-in-law who says he has got some stunning black and white results. I was trying to produce the same, But need a better setup (at least a straight sheet to start with)

Get a Nikon :p
Hmmm let me see. NO... :) I'd actually get a nikon before I get a canon. Though never if anyone tries to tell me their brand is better than another that they actually dont really know much about

Anyway... I so cant believe nobody has done this yet. I was trying to get it done today, though couldn't find a video card that would fit into any of my old machines to power it up. here is an image I found that I was planning on trying to take a photo off, Which was the first thing I actually thought of when I heard the word Monochrome

Bunnyboi here

Wow, you guys are tough on me. Thank you for all the entries, they were all stunning. Personally black and white is my favorite type of photography.

Anyways let's get to business.

This weeks winner is.... (drum roll please)

Grey Heron taken at Rietvlei: Tosser
I love the image especially with the background with no clutter etc. makes a perfect monochrome image.

Runner up:
Loss: Mephisto_Helix
Love the image, I would have loved to see a bit more of the flower in focus, but I know it can be difficult so close to get the Depth of Field right.

Anyway that's me for the week...

...next subject please

PS. hopefully no animals was hurt in the making of these images. :)

Wow, thanks Krypty, and everyone who participated. It's truly an honour considering the quality of the submissions. :)

The previous weeks threads have been very imaginative, and have definitely stretched my abilities. Continuing in this vein I suggest:

New Theme:

Radiance

Use your imagination...
