So we supply a customer in another city with a product that they use to stamp their logo onto their plastic boxes.
The product we sell them is designed to be stamped onto all types of plastic.
Recently they changed the type of plastic from polyprop to ABS.
So we got an email from them asking us to supply them with a suitable product in the same colour range...
Conversation went like this....
Customer: We changed plastic type, please give us another foil that will work with this product.
Me: The foil we are giving you is designed to work with all types of plastic.
Customer: Yes, but this is a new type, can you send me samples of similar colours?
Me: Can you take a piece from the existing foil we supply you with and test it?
Customer: No, this is for a new range, the boxes are different, we need to spec the right foil for this box.
Me: OK.... what are the sizes of the rolls?
Customer: 5 cm
Me: But that is the same size as the rolls we currently supply you with?
Customer: [getting frustrated] yes, but that's for the X boxes, these are a new type of plastic.
Me: OK, so you want me to send you 5cm samples of a foil that will work on this new type of plastic?
Customer: YES!
So I send them samples of exactly the same rolls we currently supply them with. Later, they phone back....
Customer: Hi, the new samples worked perfectly, can you give me prices on the new rolls.
Me: Well, I've got good news for you, we can make the price on these exactly the same as the price on the other product we supply you with!
