We'll reduce prices - Cell C

And that by lowering the wholesale price, you could effectively be closing the door on the lower income or no income earners' access to mobile connection as the revenue from wholesale call termination is used to subsidise them

Don't worry. MyADSL's biggest brains are allready hard at work trying to make sense of the above statement. They will report their findings next year.

ffffft What next

Will Cell C reduce it's interconnection charges without ICASA ruling on it?

What about CellC announcing it will drop its interconnection charges if VC and MTN reduce their charges for MTN/VC to CellC rates accordingly?

That would be something concrete to consider!

But I doubt if CellC would consider anything concrete - words are easy, but doing what you say is not.

Why do I smell manure? And no, it's not my son sitting on my lap...

One question - where does the money for sponsoring sports events come from?

Kudos for CellC for trying to make a difference, hopefully it'll be action and not only words...

I doubt very much anything will happen. Vodacom and MTN will have their way.

Translation:
We've already reduced the Cell C to Cell C charges because we realised that we might lose customers once they realised we were hypocrites charging too much just like the other network operators but harping on about the competition doing the same thing

3 fat piggies, who claim not to be in a cartel singing the same tune. Have virgin mentioned anything? 4 piggies?

Funny that the network who probably services the most poor people are supportive of the change. If Vodacom and MTN is right they would have to disconnect the majority of their subscriber base.

Now if they could show a little good faith and drop their data charges as promised...

Cell C can not reduce the rate if they continue to overpay for the use of the other networks but how does 51c/min for calls over the weekend sound?

ahhh... forgot about newspeak... :o

aye it's true. i wonder if they only making noise or are they actually going to "doo" something

Well, I for one believe that Cell C would indeed drop their call charges and that way 'lower income or no income earners' would actually be able to make a call instead of using the retarded 'please call me' service of the other 2 behemoths.

If I were ICASA I would use this fact (Cell C dropping call rates) to throw the ball back into VC and MTNs court and see how they change their tune. Basically if they not willing to cater for the poor (i.e. allow them to actually make use of communication via a call) then some one else will!
