Sorry, nothing concrete as yet. I am still trying. Apologies for the delay

What will happen in a situation like this? I mean I'm not making the calls. You guys should be able to see that the phone is off while the bill gets higher.
I just want to know where I stand at this moment.

Thanks for your help so far.

Strange, I seem to have a similar problem to Piesang although admittedly not that serious. I have calls to local numbers between a certain period of a few days that I was actually charged for (them having rands and cents value) although I have always had a free minute balance available since inception of the account three months ago, and have aleays carried minutes over. I called into the call centre and was told some airy fairy story about billing date changes etc and that although I have (and always had) free minutes MTN will still charge me for it although it is a problem with their billing system. BTW i am on a Procall 220 package.

But wait it gets better...I also signed a 24 month data contract with the 2Gb option. The first month I was billed correctly and the second month I was charged an additional R361 for additional data use beyond 1Gb, although my contract clearly states 2Gb. Again Mr MTN consultant looked into the problem and promised me a call back. I am still waiting...

Can someone from MTN please try and explain to me what is happening with their billing system? I have reference numbers for both incidents.

Why is clients being charged for costs that they are not responsible for? Surely this must be illegal?

The bill didn't went up much since yesterday. Standing on R942.05 now.

I still haven't switched on the phone.

Somewhere someone is using he's/her cellphone without getting charged for the calls. It looks like this person is using the phone mainly for business purposes because during the week the bill gets higher quicker than over the weekend. Or that is what it looks like to me though. I will have a look what the amount is going to be tomorrow.

I think MTNSP should have a look at their new customers' profiles. Someone who signed a contract 2/3 months ago. Maybe someone who ported their number or something. I don't know. I can't do anything about it because I don't work for MTN. I will just have to wait and see what happens.

One thing is sure, I won't pay that extra R1800.00 at the end of this month. I will gladly pay the subscription fee and whatever I have to pay on the account but I won't pay for any calls made or SMS's send because I'm not going to use the phone. I'll even take the sim card out and take it to MTNSP to have it locked up or something.

If the problem is not solved very quickly I will get proffessional help and I'll make sure that this contract is cancelled. I'm 100% sure that this can be done because at the moment someone else is illegally using my contract.

Mmmm, today it's still at R942.05.

No business on the weekend.:D

Just to get everything clear to everyone that is reading this thread.

I have 5 contracts at MTNSP.

1. Procall 120 that I use everyday. Sometimes I go a bit over my 120minutes but not much. On this package I also have a SMS500 bundle that I don't use up.

2. Procall 120 that I use every now and then. I can't remember that I used up all the free minutes ever.

3. Procall 120 that my wife use everyday. She usually go over the inclusive free minutes.

4. Mychoice75 that I use in my data card. Account is never high.

5. Mycall100. This is the account with the billing problem.

Now why would I use this account to make all these calls if I have all those free minutes to use every month that I don't even use?

I surely hope that MTN will have a answer for me this week.

Sure hope your problem gets sorted. Seems like they've stopped the source of the problem since no business was made, now to see if dr data found something. but other than that... dude you got alot of contracts... mtnsp should be grovelling at your feet :D

Unfortunately they dont take that in consideration. Each contract is seen as a individual contract.

I would like to thank everyone working on this matter.

I got a phone call from MTNSP Century City this morning and spoke to guy called Bandile.

He is assuring me that this problem is investigated in the highest degree possible. As from today my Debit order is cancelled and I have to pay the account cash at MTNSP until the problem is solved. I prefer it that way because then no amount can go off my account that shouldn't.

I'm just glad this is really getting somewhere now.

Thanks again guys.;)

You don't have to pay the account cash at all.
Setup a beneficiary on your internet banking to the following account details below and quote your MTN a/c number or cellphone number and also send email notification to webmaster@mtnsp.co.za

a/c number - 4063304150
branch code - 632005 - ABSA generic internet banking code

I hope you don't make a special trip just to pay them in cash , use the convenience of internet / cellphone banking and they will get their monies.

Only problem I ever had was when they were banking with Standard Bank and for 6 months they allocated my payments to someone elses account and then wanted to block my phone and sim for non-payment , a few bank statements later and it was all hunky dory.

FWIW I've been paying MTN on a "cash" basis ie non-debit order from 1998 and as long as they get the monies due to them , they should have no problems whatsoever provided you meet the rest of the requirements should it be a new contract or port from another SP to MTNSP.

I would like to thank everyone working on this matter.
