What amount will the bank pay out if I buy a new car?

Post a picture of the engine, the 1.5l Geely used in many of their models was a Toyota engine.

So you have actually tried Toyota parts on it and they don't work? I do note the limited edition, very surprising that the Vhinese would go through all the trouble.

The engine isn't the problem it's the other parts of the car that I cannot find on the market

I have been to Mahindra, Toyota, Midas, Goeie Hoop Onderdele, Alert, everywhere. No parts fit it. Not sure if there books are wrong or what but they give me the part "listed for the car" and it never works.

Toyota engine but the brakes I had to have specially made, clutch couldn't be replaced had to be reconditioned and the oil filter cannot be found because toyota doe not fit
Which Toyota model did you try? The engine is based on the older Corolla 1.6 engine, the Kentucky Rounder, not the newer yaris engines or vvti.

My observation on different cars is that manufacturers are lazy and take every opportunity to cut costs, you'll be surprised to find how many cars share parts out there, the Chinese are well known copycats and I would be very surprised if they designed new and unique parts for this vehicle.

But if you have made up your mind to get rid of it then good luck on finding a solution.

Not sure if this is a joke but, I work for a company that uses the transunion systems daily so I have all the latest values - trade, retail and market.

Badger is a very valuable member, and he knows his trade. When he tells you something, you can believe him. Camisas honour. So when he says post a picture of you next to the car I'd advise you to do it. He'll give you stand up advice as soon as he sees the picture.

The spare parts guys are clueless, I don't ever remember coming across any helpful one. I guess if there is no other way then getting rid of it is the only way.

  1. Find out how much the insurance will pay out if when it gets stolen.
  2. If it's more than R76k, setup the bait (a busy street corner with signage "for sale" should do the trick.

I had the same problem with a Proton Gen 2. Garages would offer me R25k for the car. Took it to the Proton dealership where the one guy came out and offered me R50k. I paid R55k for the car 2 years earlier. I asked for the paperwork on the spot and signed it there and then. I saw the car on the road a while after I sold it, and a few weeks after that back on the floor again (drove past there often). Guess someone bought it and didn't like it.

Shortly after Proton went tits up in SA.

If I was you and could not get satisfactory price for it I would keep it and drive it until it falls apart.
As pointed out engine parts should be interchangeable.

Check for trade assist deals? Downside is you'll probably have to buy new or something expensive. Just an option though

I am very confused and absolutely exhausted. I am trying to get rid of my 2015 Geely GX2. It is a great first car, but since Geely is liquidated find parts, particularly the oil filter, is impossible.

The car is worth+/- R70 000, the outstanding finance is +/- R109 000 but the settlement amount is +/- R76 000.

I have been all over looking for someone to take in my car and sell me another second hand car, but no one is interested as they say the loan amount is too high.

Maybe I don't understand the process, but what I think happens is I trade in my car and buy Vehicle B. Vehicle B is going to be financed by (for example) Nedbank, my loan is with Standard Bank, so would the dealer not pay R76 000 to standard bank and then add that R6 000 to my next car loan as my vehicle is (theoretically) R70 000 ?
What was the original finance deal? "Balloon Payment" inflatable much?

Nice wheels, but as a kind of sad look to it though. Not sure if it's because I strained my neck to see it right way up.

They sell the Geely to Voortrekker road dealers. They sell them fast.

Yes, but not for a lot of money.

Buying a car for its street value and selling it for less or even breaking even isn’t worth their while.
