Ex iphone user.

The following things annoy me about the OS..if there is fixes for this please help.

1. Since I do not want my facebook, gmail contacts synched on my phone contact list..no email address is ever remembered when using the gmail app. I always have to reply to mails or type the full email address in. On the iphone this was never a problem, as soon as you replied to an email address the address would be logged and you can easily acess it by either typing the begining of the email or persons name. NO DAMN synching* everything!

2. When taking a picture and attaching it to a mail there is no option for changing the size of the photo. With the iphone you could choose to resize the photo when you attach it.

3. I'm using MUCH more data than ever before. I went through 250mb in just 10 days where this would have lasted me a month with the same usage as the iphone. Damn background apps. I've shut that down on all apps now..i hope.

4. The predictive text and keyboard sucks! swift key x and the standard that comes with the S3. Iphone keyboard...just works.

I'm gonna be pissed if the iphone 5 is super duper awesome and I didnt wait :/

* why does everything just wanna synch?? no google i dont want you to have ALL my information now stop trying to synch everything and then giving me crappy functionality cause i didnt synch

....Rant over.

Please feel free to correct my idiotic behaviour if any of the above can be fixed.

You should really sync your contacts.. But I think the problem is that you don't want everyone you ever emails to appear as a contact. There is an option for that

Your data usage is WAY above average. I have been using my phone heavily this month and I just passed the 300mb mark. I believe in studies (or speculation) it has been found that iPhone uses more data, so there is something that is chowing your data

I disabled the facebook notifications. I hope it was that. Otherwise vodacom is faaking up with their data usage counter.

The first time I synched, it synched everything I dont want that, I dont see where you can filter it though.

1. Yes it is annoying. Go to sync settings and switch off facebook etc. I use google to save my numbers and my email, so I don't know how you are going to get past that one.

2. I don't know.

3. Good luck with that, but it should actually be less consumption than your iPhone.

4. That is your opinion, but I think it is just because you are still used to the iPhone way. You can set it to be as close as possible to your preferences, but not always.

I just saw iPhone and Android in the same sentence :D

On a serious note though, I have this argument with a friend at work all the time. He insists iOS 'just works' where as Android needs some working 'tweaking'. Then again if you want iOS features then use iOS, if you want to mess around with an OS then Android is fun.

what has been annoying lately is the fact that its so bloody hard to set individual notifications on gingerbread. my bb has one that control it but noooooooo stupid android is individual. leka vasin.

im afraid OP will have to spend some quality time with her droid to set everything up properly. i sync facebook to get my chommies emails but nothing else. everything is integrated but i usually break the links cos sometimes it strikes me as intrusive. if u have ICS you should have onova/onavo standard for monitoring data. use that to find out which app is using the data.

I just remembered now, I manually moved everything from my myContacts in google and said not to automatically add everyone there. I use that just for my phone numbers etc. That too is irritating in itself, but I learned to live with it.

No, I think he has the same problem that I have. When I reply to an sms, I don't want email addresses popping up instead of phone numbers.

Edit: I think that is a touch wiz problem not an android problem

That should not happen on SMS at all. Perhaps on MMS (I have not tested). But I think there might be a default tick setting for this below the options when trying to send MMS ...

/sigh

I will just have to bond with it I suppose.

What mail client do you guys use? The gmail app or the email client ? I havent tried the email client so maybe that one will remember my email contacts.

Any comments on the resize photos? If the only option is using one of my photo editor apps and then saving it and then emailing it....faaakk uuuuuu Andriod. I think i'll revert back to the Iphone once this contract is done. I just love the "just works" thing. ;)
