Ireland is a contentious issue, but technically it is part of the British Isles.
NOPE

Republic of Eire ( Southern Ireland ) CATHOLIC

Northern Island = part of the UK PROTESTANT

There was a contingent of Irish PRO-BOERS that fought on the side of the Republican forces
There were also Irish in the British Army -- at the battle of Colenso they ended up shooting each other !

THIS is the story of IRELAND -- and the BREXIT Irish BACKSTOP !

Ah, but the Scots are something else again, ask the English ... ;)
MANY Scots were sent out to SA as Missionaries / Minsters
John Knox was a religious contemporary of John Calvin ( Dutch Reformed Church )
SO
Some Scottish ministers ended as ministers in the Dutch Reformed Church catering to their congregants
Many ended up marrying Boere vrouens -- see Andrew MURRAY = MURRAYSBURG
SO
In SA you now have people with English sounding names that cannot speak a word of English ....:)

These measures were largely responsible for bringing the Boers to the negotiation table to end the War.
Because
The Boers still in the field were worried about their families ....
NO
Because
The ability to operate as a guerilla army relying on the civilain population to clothe , feed , hide , support , and assist was no longer possible.

Lol, yeah I think you need to go back a bit and read the posts :p

The issue at hand is one of geography.

was a remarkable read. All sorts of odd little histories no one ever teaches nowadays like the white rogue (forgot his name) that virtually took over a black tribe for a while for example.
Coenraad de Buys

Coenraad de Buys was born in 1761 on a farm near Montagu. This Coenraad is generally regarded as the stamvader, or progenitor of the Buys people. By all accounts a formidable man, he left an indelible, often disruptive, mark on the historical, political and socio-cultural landscape of South Africa.
Professor Emeritus Michael de Jongh will deliver a keynote address on the subject at the Annual General Meeting of the Van Plettenberg History Society at 18h00 on Thursday 23rd November at the Angling Club on the Keurbooms River. After the business has been concluded, dinner will be available by prior reservation. For reservations please telephone Christo Oberholzer on 083 625 4310 before 20th November.
Author of Karrietjie Mense (UNISA Press) and The Forgotten People: The Hessequa of the Southern Cape, (published by Plett-based publishing house, The Watermark Press), among other works, Professor de Jongh was formerly a Professor of Anthropology at UNISA. His books are available at the Old Nick, the Book Nook, the Village Bookshop, Knsyna Book Exchange, and Deo Gratia in Sedgefield.
“His uncommon height, for he measured nearly seven feet; the strength, yet admirable proportion of his limbs, his excellent carriage, his firm countenance, high forehead, his whole mien, and a certain dignity in his movements, made altogether a most pleasing impression. Such one might conceive to have been the heroes of ancient times; he seemed the living figure of Hercules, the terror of his enemies, the hope and support of his friends.”

(Henry Lichtenstein, who met De Buys in the company of Commissioner General De Mist in the first decade of the 1980s)
original author mistake should be 1880's

Disagree. These were people that did not care about Marxism etc. These were people used to living off the veld and knew it intimately.

There was a flirtation with marxism after the war that petered out after the rand rebellion (I think) was a failure. People try to racialise it and it's associated strikes nowadays but it was a almost purely a communist revolution attempt. It was after this that the SACP swtiched to backing black popular uprisings.

I quite understand that THAT is NOT what they called it

They called fire and movement -- "skiet mekaar los"
They also used artillery indirect fire -- using an observer -- did they call it an AFO ?

Geez -- use a bit of Intelligence ..........

PS :
The CPSA
Yeah there were a lot of name changes in that period, supposedly to mark changes in overall policy but that's mostly marketing. The ANC was also not the original name of that organization either. Another example is the Afrikaner Bond becoming the Afrikaner Broederbond becoming the Afrikanerbond......
