Hey! Yes, i read this whole series to date so far. Good reading and clever imagining of rocks/stones behaving as flora.
If I'm being totally honest I probably skim over the parts describing the surroundings. I'll pay attention maybe to the differences in the plants in the chasms of the shattered plains but don't ask me about the plants in Shallan's garden back in Jah Keved or the rocks that Tien used to pick up for Kalladin.

About to finish Homo Deus.

I liked it but was hard to keep my mind from wondering at times, he brings up such interesting ideas and then I go off on a tangent thinking about it.
Almost have to pause and think about the idea for a while. He throws so much at you its hard to really tell what the book is about.

Need some light reading now...something with sex in zero-g

Well you get some honesty points ;)
Lettuce know if you ever get to the sequels!

Good Omens is amazing. Don't listen to fanie. :p

I've only read Murder On the Orient Express by Christie, and liked it. Apparently And Then There Were None is also really good, but just don't look up the original title. :erm:

RIP Ursula K. Le Guin. You played a big part in getting me hooked on fantasy reading.

Done this yesterday, started straight away with The Rose and the Thorn (The Riyria Chronicles, #2) by Michael J. Sullivan

Done, moving swiftly along to The Death of Dulgath (The Riyria Chronicles, #3) by Michael J. Sullivan

edit: hang on - since the passing of Ursula... I've never read her, now might be a good a time of any... and the first one is nice and short in any case

So let's do this then: A Wizard of Earthsea (Earthsea Cycle, #1) by Ursula K. Le Guin

Loved the Earthsea Trilogy when I was a wee lass. Just remember they are Junior Fiction.

I think Earthsea is meant for kids and reads like one from the little I tried of it before realising

Well, I've read about 30% so far, and I wouldn't say that it felt like a kids book so far. And I would be the first to pick up on something like this, i couldn't do potter, lotr and many other books meant for kids which I couldn't even get passed chapter 1.

This being a shorty, I'll finish it and then see how I feel about continuing

Philistine! How dare you mention it in the same sentence as Potter. LOTR isn't a kids series.

Glad you're enjoying it. For example, I could enjoy Potter but started Earthsea a few times and just keep stopping. Sad you can't enjoy LOTR though, it is not meant for kids. Hope you've at least read the Hobbit, which is a nice fun read and not as complex as LOTR.

I'm just the opposite of you with LOTR/Earthsea. I read the Earthsea Trilogy as a child, but have never been able to get more than a few pages into The Hobbit.
Let's just not mention the Potter stuff, shall we? :D

Lol, deal on Potter. It may trigger sb.

Hobbit is really a fun book guys. Must say in my early reading days I hated songs in books until I discovered audiobooks. I love the bear and the maiden fair in asoiaf as read by Roy. He can't sing but he does it so well. Even when he's doing the rains of castamere it's brilliant. More because of how GRRM wrote it into the wedding chapters.

I would not call the Earthsea books kids fantasy, way too dark for that. Kids can read it, don't get me wrong, but unlike Harry Potter it is not aimed at a younger audience.
