(Although I'll admit it only really gets good 4 or 5 books in).

I've tried twice, and first got stuck at 1, then got stuck at 2. Life's to short to struggle through something just to get to book 4 or 5.
I love Dresden Files but I struggled with this book. Don't think I finished it. Question is, is it worth looking at a second time?

:wtf::wtf:
Shocking, just shocking, but the later books are really, really good.
I don't care about later books... and the audiobook narrator irritates the SCHIT OUT OF ME!!!!!!!!
Each book in the series is better than the previous one. Jim Butcher was still a novice writer when he started the series but he gets into his stride as the series progresses+1 on hating Dresden Files.
I loved the Codex Alera series and The Aeronaut's Windlass but I couldn't drag myself through that first Dresden Novel.
I have no idea why there are so many in the series![]()
Even the narrator improves. Hated him in the beginning too. You can jump right up to book 3 or 4 skipping 1 and 2 if you likeI don't care about later books... and the audiobook narrator irritates the SCHIT OUT OF ME!!!!!!!!
I did. Got halfway with book 1. Then I thought maybe if I listened to it, I can just power through and get to the good ones.Dresden rules. But you're supposed to READ the books.
I always fall asleep with audiobooks, which is why I don't listen to them. I'm not going to try to convince you, but I love the series and as a few others stated, they just get better and better, and according to Goodreads I'm not the only one who enjoys themI did. Almost lost control of my bike on the R21 to Pretoria when I feel alseep halfway through book 2.

Nonononononononono.If you guys enjoyed Mark Lawrence's Broken Empire series (Prince of Thorns etc.) then I can highly recommend his short story collection Road Brothers . The stories really add something to the whole experience and you get glimpses of some of the characters (and Jorg of course) which you didn't get to see in the series itself.
Nonononononononono.

Nonono. I read his Prince of Thorns books and whatever is wrong with Mark Lawrence, I want nothing to do with it.Well, there's an audio version available online of one of the stories, Sleeping Beauty, to help make up your mind.
The Thomas Covenant books are are in my top ten favourite dark fantasy books.Me too. I still have book one on my kindle, unfinished and despised:crylaugh:
I haven't hated a book this much since the Thomas Covenant series.

I hated his books more with every book I read. By the time I finished the third book I decided I'll never read anything by him again. Not saying he's a bad writer - just saying I hate his books.Well, I quite enjoyed them. A completely broken person, yet you still develop empathy for the main character. Jorg is messed up, not sure you can say the same for the author though.
