Robin Hobb - Fool's Quest

A bit backwards starting with an author in the most recent of a stream of trilogies but don't feel like I've missed anything.

Personally I wouldn't do it this way as the trilogies all follow on from each other and are all connected - you're definitely missing out on a great story by skipping them and previous stories will be spoiled if you decide to read them later.
It really is worth reading them in the following order, IMO:
  • The Farseer trilogy
  • The Liveship Traders trilogy
  • The Tawny Man trilogy
  • The Rain Wild chronicles
  • The Fitz and the Fool trilogy

Yes yes.

But it's the difference between reading some of it or not reading it at all.

I may go back in time to read them or just take a future forward view.

Need to read Farenheit 451 again.
I used to love Ray Bradbury when I was at school. Especially the short stories

And just saw a trailer to the movie they are making for it. Considering how our attention spans have become so short, and we are always on our smartphones and social media. I think it's as valid as ever

If you're about dystopian you can't go wrong with (if you haven't)
- We
- Brave new world
- A clockwork orange (the audiobook is one of the best I've listened to. That pov is unmatched)
- 1984

His short story "R Is For Rocket" remains a defining read for me from my childhood.
The feelings it evokes are wonderful.

The Accidental Time Machine - Joe Haldeman

Good story, but the end felt rushed. 3/5

I tried the one that was made into a tv show and didn't like it. Lol transcended? Not based on the sword of truth unless he's transcended in an opposite direction

I read all of the books in that series, way better than the tv show.

sometimes his style of writing is a bit tedious, but I enjoy the books.

I dont pay attention to the Authors own drama...

I also don't care for the author's dramas. I enjoyed some of the monster series books by Correia despite his right wing dramas and actually enjoyed most of battlefield earth just the book's ending is rather tedious. Don't think I even completed it because it was a drag toward the end.

Blindsight - Peter Watts finished.
Really enjoyed it, two little gripes are:
1.) The stuff about consciousness being a hinderance just kinda jumps up out of nowhere a bit too suddenly. It almost feels like he had this idea and needed to be explicit about it. Sarrasti literally just goes on a monologue at what feels like out of the blue.
2.) 'd have preferred the alien encounter resolved a bit more, ending felt a bit rushed.

I just finished The Subtle Art of Not Giving a **** by Mark Manson. I'm not usually into the whole self help genre, but I started it after seeing someone reading it in my shop.
It was a good read, definitely some really good take aways that I feel Ive implemented into my life.

Just started We Are Legion (Bobiverse Book 1) - Dennis Taylor.
Quite a contrast to Blindsight - this is lighter and humorous, not sure I'm in the mood for this now was kinda wanting to keep on with something that has a similiar feel to Blindsight. Ah well lets see.
Anyone read this yet?

Yep. Finished all 3 books in the serious. If you can, do audiobook. The narrator is fantastic.

Got it on Audible, didn't enjoy it, not my kind of thing at all - can't even remember if I finished it or not, to be honest
