Glad to hear that!

I personally preferred Use of Weapons to Excession but that's just me.

It isn't really that it jumps around as such, more of odd and even chapters dealing with the same time line from different points.

In my mind you could start reading the book from the back or front but only do every second chapter if you wanted cohesiveness in the time line.
Finally finished with Player of Games as well. Was good, so decided to move on to Use of Weapons. Only about 15% in, but the jumping around isn't bothering me just yet.

Finally listening to The Terror. I must really replace my kindle. The book is read by the guy who reads Pillars of the Earth and its sequels. Interesting thus far. Good but not engrossing.

Just finished We are legion(we are Bob) Book 1 of the BoBiverse.

Its really great, nice light reading. Such fun.

Going to read the Jordan Peterson book before I get the rest of the Bobiverse series.

I'm busy with BOB 2 now on audiobook.

I listened to BOB 1, then Stephen King's "11.22.63" (excellent) and then John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men" before getting to BOB 2. I'm glad I took the break from BOB - think diving straight into BOB 2 would have been overkill and the break kinda makes you miss them.

Yes, glad I took the break but going to the next Expanse book now. Wont wait too long before I get back to BOB.

I have been listening to The Habitat, its a podcast about a NASA experiment in Hawaii where they are simulating a Mars mission - fascinating.

Just finished it, and truly one of the most ridiculous books I've ever had the displeasure of reading.

There was a scene where a dude took out a helicopter by creating a ramp for a jet-ski, with the wings of the river-plane he was piloting at high speed.

Not the mention sentences like: Bang! Whizz! The bullets flew by overhead!

It's apparently just me though, book was highly recommended to me, and reviews seem to be generally positive. Bananas.

Now I'm reading The Cider House Rules before I try Blood Meridian again.

Had that happen to me, copacetic.

I'm quite fond of historical fiction and have read quite a lot set in the reign of Akhenaten.
This book by someone called Terrance Coffey looked promising and had some rave reviews.

But it was an utter bust - poor historical setting and worse writing.

Michael Pollan - "How to Change Your Mind: What the New Science of Psychedelics Teaches Us About Consciousness, Dying, Addiction, Depression, and Transcendence"

A must read, for everyone and anyone. For your, your friends, your family, your doctor and your dog.

Have you read Guy Gavriel Kay?

I had never heard of him. Looks promising, thanks!

I read The Fionavar Tapestry when I was a teenager and thought it the best books ever. Tried rereading it last year and had to cringe at how juvenile it was. His later books are pretty good though.

And he's a really nice guy too. Swapped a couple of emails with him back in the 90s, follow him on Twitter now.

Ready Player One - Ernest Cline

Not a bad book and it feels like it is aimed at teenagers....BUT all the references to 80's culture left me confused at whom this is really aimed at. 3/5
