Almost done with The Left Hand of Darkness.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Really enjoyed it, especially the writing style. Some beautiful sentences and words in there.

So after starting like a house on fire snow crash has meandered into a chore. I've abandoned it for now in favour of re - listening to the way of kings in graphic audio. But I only have the first 3 files, any o'you know where I can find 4 and 5. I don't like the Michael Kramer reading he puts me to sleep. The graphic audio is so much better.

Michael Kramer I thought was awesome... what is "graphic audio"?

The book is "performed". With sound effects and different voice actors. they call it a movie in your mind so much better if you ever do a reread

Since my anus is not quite ready for Winter of the World, I am re-reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, for about the fourth time.

Speaking of, is that something you guys do? Many of my books, I have read up to ten times in some cases...

I think I'm too far behind to even think about rereading anything... that being said, I'll probably do Expanse #5 again, before Expanse #6 releases later this year... or i might not. I have to be realistic ;)

I reread (only audio) because I'd rather do that than read a badly written book.

Yeah, the reason I reread is usually not having anything else available but in rare cases it's due to such a good book it's worth repeating.

Before my Kindle broke, the chances of this happening were about zero, as I had en endless supply...

I do reread, but not often, and doubt I'd read any book up to 10 times. Far too many books on my to-read list.

Finished Crytonomicon, have now moved onto Dead wake by Erik Larson. Fascinating read about the sinking the Lusitania. Too bad I'm almost finished with it!

ah ok, never heard one.

I have listened to a few of these.

One of the best is the Hitch hikers guide to the Galaxy, I have it but its a poor recording. Its actually really awesome to hear the sound effects and different voices.

The original has to be war of the worlds - it was a radio broadcast like Hitch hikers but much older.

My the copy of Dune that I just listened to was also almost theatrical. They had some scenes read by different voice actors and then would occasionally have desert sounds while reading.
Also Broken monsters - Lauren Beukes (SA) is like that, voice acting is tops and you need it, complex characters.

I'm listening to Hyperion now, its been done in the same way as Dune where the Pilgrims are all different voice actors and so you can tell the difference between the dialog on the ship and the story.(I think... I'm still on the first story)
