How's Dancer's Lament - I have tried ICE's books of the Malazan universe. I found his writing really poor, I tried return of the crimson guard and found it a slog. But I hear he's got better on subsequent reads and Dancer's lament is rated a bit better but I'm worried it's just die hard fans skewing the ratings.

Will let you know. Still busy with Fall of light.

Dancers Lament is next up.

Just fired up the complete works of HP Lovecraft on the kindle app.

It's heavy going, compared to the fluff I've been reading lately.

What did you start with? The stories vary quite a bit in quality.

My first was At The Mountains of Madness. Enjoyed it quite a bit. He has a way to create a spooky as fsck atmosphere.

Inside the Third Reich - Albert Speer

The nazi who apologised. This book had me hooked. While I believe he is sincere in his apology, I'm a bit skeptical about his claim that he didn't know about the concentration camps. In any case I was appalled at his use of forced labour. It is a fascinating and sobering look inside the reich and a chilling reminder of what we're capable of.

Seven Deadly Sins - David Walsh

Sobering. I thought I knew what Lance Armstrong was about but the extent of the doping, the bullying, the assassin's in suits who sued everyone who dared speak out. I feel ambivalent about it. On the one hand what he did was wrong but everyone was doping and I'm left wondering if there aren't still a majority of dopers in the peloton. Rewatched that climb up Sestrierre in the '99 tour.

Le juice!

David & Goliath - Malcolm Gladwell

I love Gladwell's books and this was one of the better ones. Really liked the bit about education and how small classes aren't always an advantage.

Feel the Fear and do it Anyway - Susan Jeffers

In the pantheon of my best reads. Simple, solid advice.

Currently reading Total Recall, Arnold Schwarzenegger's autobiography. Will update when I'm done.

So finally finished the second book of Night's Dawn, The Neutronium Alchemist. Damn good. Looking forward to the third, but really needed to take a break and read something else. 9/10
Also finished Blake Crouch - Dark Matter via audiobook, good, interesting and short enough. Solid 7/10

Started with Michael J. Sullivan - Theft of Swords, part of The Riyria Revelations. Really enjoying it so far. So far the writing and story style feels a lot like The First Law series, which I loved.

If you like Sullivan's Ryiria, you might want to check out the Kickstarter project of his graphic novel.
