Re-reading the Reacher series by Lee Child and starting to think it might be a mistake. When I read the books the first time I liked the character so much that I didn't really notice much about writing style or plot, but now they are grating on me a little bit.

Some other good recommendations for sci-fi:
The black cloud and Osians ride by Fred Hoyle. These are a bit older, found them on my dads old bookshelf but very well written. Fred Hoyle was astronemer royale back in the day.

Another old favourite sci fi is Nightfall by Robert Silverberg

Anyways, just finished Eddings The diamond throne. Now onwards to Ruby Knight and Saphire rose.

Don't get the comparisons then as First Law isn't similar to Gentleman Bastard

So for context, when I say "similar" I'm not referring to the story, but more about the ease it is to read, it's not serious all the time, and magic exists, but it's not the main theme. if that makes sense.

So further now into Hyperion. Once I got past all the jargon they throw at you at the start it gets interesting.

Although I must say this isn't the book to read while your mind wanders. Lose focus for a second and you're lost.

I had a look at the time left to complete and OMG this book must be long.

So finished this: Theft of Swords (The Riyria Revelations, #1) by Michael J. Sullivan
loved it.

Now do I wait for the Expanse tomorrow........... or do I do Riyria Revelations, #2

I have to be honest, I'm more excited about Riyria :D

Is it still worth reading the expanse books if you've seen the TV series?

For those that have experienced both, how do they compare?

Anyone read any technology based fiction? Loved Daemon by Daniel Suarez and Reamde by Neal Stephenson - any other good ones?
