i am now using a Samsung S24FE - i don't give a rats proverbials about any of the arguments for or against any of the relevant operating systems from any brands, but i do just get whatever matches my budget at the time - and this time it certainly wasn't the Xiaomi because Takealot was sold out of the models i wanted on Black Friday - so i went to one level up by sacrificing other tech items, and i won't say that i'm unhappy with my choice ..... but actually for now pretty much the opposite of that

Apple is always way too expensive plus i cant invest in swapping over to their infrastructure so in my case Apple is a non starter - i don't even bother to check their tech specs besides when its thrown into my face by fanboys in this forum ..... and really i still give even less of a schit than i ever did about their products

anyone else using Apple products - i am genuinely happy for you ..... end of story

Apple Fanboys assemble its the thread you've been waiting for to show your superiority and that it just works

Im a recovering fanboy its been 7 years since my last incident

I've used both Apple and Android and the best advantage of the Apple is the camera. I prefer Android because it's much less limiting and also cheaper to own. These days the top Android phones aren't miles off the Apple cameras.

I have a Iphone 6S and used a iphone 12, hated Apple with a passion , but could see why people like it,
especially if you DONT know better.

its the same with anything really, If you drive a Mercedes all the time and get into an Uno as a rental, you will complain A LOT,

Fortunately I climbed the Android and Samsung ranks slowly, left Samsung, tried other Android and NEVER OWNED anything Apple, the 12 was a company phone and the 6s was a Apple locked device I managed to unloc, where I store the little Apple stuff I have

back at Samsung now, but my next jump will be either fairphone or Nokia, or something with a removable battery .

Yes your Samsung with cracked screen and laggy Samsung Pay is better...
and my current daily driver a S21 FE with a cracked screen (brought used) after the S9 got stolen,
not the same, and had it on the phone as well,
it lags sometimes, its slow to show up sometimes, not always as quick as you like

sure it will get better though
^^

Xiaomi, Only problem is after about 8 months it can become very lagging. But it have great battery life etc.

much better, used Apple wallet before you say I'm Biased, loaded it on the 6s, and seemed like a cheap knock off of Samsung pay,
I mean I get it as long as it works its good enough, bit more fiddly IMO,

but even with the lag of samsung pay and the cracked screen, at least I got options, I can always use Google Wallet that ALSO works, strangely enough faster, so here is to choice.

Apple is like, all your cards is belong to us, even Discovery/Sterkinekor/vitality makes cards ONLY for Apple, not for Samsung or Google, they discriminate against the working class samsung and android people,

I say bring digital medical aid cards to Samsung and Google wallet, not just Apple and their overpriced android knock off.

My collection for my mobile application development includes a Google Pixel 6a. Amazing phone for the price, but in SA no 5G or Wi-Fi calling 🙈 as it's not officially supported.

will never buy iPhone, ever

and I have a few basic non-negotiable requirements for my phone to be smaller than most and have a USB-C charging plug

which fyi means Samsung is the only one on that list that is even an option, just based on two non-negotiables (or three I guess if you count "never iPhone")

You mean the copy code button in the notification? Depends
So it doesn't work. Thanks. Face the facts.
Does it have that on ios?
Yes Apple Music does.
Google drive is, privacy issues are docs and photos. Drive piracy detection works via file hash rather than knowing the content.
So it doesn't have that. Thanks.
Samsung phone link you can remote access phone from the desktop afaik. The rest is Gmail/drive, not android.
So it doesn't have that. Thanks.
Yes, Pixel, Samsung flagship line. Actual promise for it, ios is just you hope. UK forced a 5 year promise at least.
We'll see 7 years down the line.
Technically yes, but two of those pop up, do agree play store one should also ask to restart phone. If any of the other two cause a restart, play store one also applies. Also don't think this is really an issue tbh.
Sure you won't think it's an issue being an Android fanboy. It's still annoying.
Maybe? I don't start up my phone outside of updates that happen overnight. I remember ios being way slower though.
So it's slow. Thanks for confirming.
Odd one, can you sync them on ios? You can use edge on android and have it use its password manager, that will sync. Or use chrome on pc and have sync there.

Or be smarter and use a password manager.
Why use a third party password manager when I don't need to?
Does the ios one?
Yes Pages has feature parity between web/Mac/iPhone
So just use the home pod mini still?
Thanks I am. It's great.
Then use Firefox on Android?
I shouldn't have to.
Like fortnite and cod? What do you mean yet?
Just answer the damn question. You Android fanboys always deflect. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/assassins-creed-mirage/id6472704261
Before ios has had, yes. Bixby has its routines, so does Google assistant.
Not nearly the same thing. Siri shortcuts are miles ahead.
Never had that, you do know stuff like mobile network signal being bad counts to that?
Weird on Reddit and even this forum people have been complaining about it for years.
I've never not had it pre-installed, and there's a button in photos to jump to that. Don't see the issue.
Great that they fixed that then. Hopefully they fixed scanning in documents as well. Going through Google drive is just terrible and slow.
How is this different to ios? And what's the issue?
The build in Stocks app works fine for me and is better than Google half assing things.
It's like a normal weather app...
Tbh I find the overview better than ios one but that's subjective.
Ah I see it's finally on the Play store https://www.androidpolice.com/google-new-weather-app-play-store-december-2023-feature-drop/ 15 years later lol. I've always had to manually add it to the home screen to install it.
How is this relevant?
People say Android/Android TV updates are irrelevant and I thought so too but clearly it is not.
Then use Microsoft authenticator or any other one?
Thanks will get my mom to switch.
Couple of years afaik, there's a recently deleted restore option under edit, but I don't know anyone who uses sms.
Good to see they've added it. Zillions of local websites still rely on SMS for 2fa.
No? Since when did you need a third party one?
https://support.google.com/pixelpho...ow-to-remove-the-home-screen-search-bar?hl=en I couldn't remove it on some of my phones.
That's a developer thing...
Good luck with that.
For ios, that's still the home screen technically as they don't have app drawers. It takes you to the home screen you were on, so same behavior except folders closed I think (haven't tested folders as I have an app drawer...).
Excuses excuses. It should take you back to where you were.
I can cast my audio to my nest speaker.
Didn't work for me on Linux. I had to use bluetooth and it's not reliable.
Does it matter? Built into Firefox on Android.
Lol okay.
It's always been better on android.
No it's not lol. People have been complaining for yonks.
Poor Google. It was an early innovator in mobile widgets as part of the initial version of Android in 2008. But then Apple came long, belatedly adding widgets to the iPhone in iOS 14 in 2020. And as is so often the case, Apple’s slow-boil approach paid off. Widgets were immediately more useful–not to mention prettier–in iOS than they’d ever been on Android–and that gap has only grown since.
I could go on and on.
And seems near all of them are false or about a Google specific app instead of using an alternative.
I'm an Android fanboy. Reeeeeeeee reeee reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
iOS has a proper Word installed by default?
Yes Pages
How is Apple Music an out of box if it's a paid for service?
It's installed by default and you can get 6 months free.
How about how bad Apple Mail is at e.g. rules, having e-mails past a certain point, etc.
My rules work fine. Although I don't have zillions set up.
The bad news is that the experience is not as seamless as we would wish. You actually have to download a separate app to use it.
^^it's terrible design plain and simple. Face the facts.
iCloud Apple uses its own keys, so "encrypted": https://proton.me/blog/apple-icloud-privacy
They still had to disable it in the UK... https://edition.cnn.com/2025/02/25/tech/apple-advanced-data-protection-uk-encryption/index.html
iOS has a lot of nice things going for it, a lot of it is the continuity that's set up if full Apple being just be logged in, while on Android it's a install Windows app for quick share, manual extra login for phone link, etc., or iOS having the seamless camera transition (I am still confused why few other phone manufacturers are copying that).

Both have their advantages, for me, I prefer Android as once set up, I like it more., but lots of your arguments are basically not an Android vs iOS argument, they're a specific app that would require you to get a third party/extra subscription on Apple.
They'll need to fix the design first.

I have a Huawei nova 11 because I had to buy in a hurry. The device itself is fine. Quick - still after 15 months, was inexpensive, long battery life but OMG the operating system! NOOO! This business of not playing nice with Google is so limiting and frustrating. Apps crash randomly, have to jump through hoops backwards to try to get simple things to work properly. Will be going back to Samsung when I can.

You have too much time on your hands..

I don’t mind my iPhone.

Kinda simple and as everyone as everyone says ‘it does an ok job’

Apple Music is great for background music, Apple Maps imagery is a bit old - but I haven’t got lost, Face ID identifies similar looking people etc, can’t sort photos, updates are always a surprise as to what you’re going to miss in the next version, apps aren’t as polished - but they are usable still, performance is overstated but it’s fast enough ..… but at the end of the day it all does the job ok

Why are you looking at a 15 Pro then?

Oh when it went up about an hour later, I stopped looking. But R6,000 saving was attractive.

Which part upset you though?

Nothing just wondering why you’d be looking to spend so much on an average device.

Because it’s good enough.

Imagine being so upset that someone says your phone is ‘good enough’
