What Camcorder

So im looking for a video camera and I have no idea what to get.

It is going to be used for recording family events, mostly.

The budget is 3k. Can I get something with a 40gb hdd and HD for this price?

Game has a SR20 handycam with an 80gb hdd for 3k, but im not sure if its HD.


What are my options?

Canon Legria HFR-106 R2,996 - Full HD AVCHD, records onto memory card though - not hard drive.

That's pretty much it in that price bracket - sure there will be cheaper options that shoot full HD, but they are not "true" video camera's, and their quality will be below par.
