Hi guys. I'm just trying to get a real world figure before I advertise my 2011 MacBook Pro. I'm not sure what I should be selling for, hence the post. Mint condition. No scratches or dents :)

Specs :

Early 2011
13.3"
Intel i5 2.3Ghz
128GB SSD + 750GB HDD (no optical drive)
8GB RAM
Apple Display Port to VGA adapter
Black inCase hardshell and Case Logic sleeve included as well as original box and charger.

What do you reckon is a fair price to sell for ?

Thanks.

There's a thread here from a few days ago that might give you an idea of price.

Wow, poor sucker.

Why would you say that? The SSD and RAM upgrade adds around R2,500 in value (at new price now, in fact new would probably have been up to R3,500 depending on how long ago it was upgraded).

R7k for a 2011 MBP is about R1k overpriced, but that is what people are willing to pay due to the quality. This one was more than likely in good condition too.

I have also noticed that the higher attached value leads people to generally look after their Apple equipment better, making them ideal goods for maintaining value, and selling second hand with far less loss vs alternative products.

Because the price of the non retina mbp's are dropping, the 13" is currently on sale for 12k.

I'm not sure if they are dropping. A sale is temporary.

Nor does it come with a 128GB SSD or 8GB RAM.

Regardless, they are on sale right now at several retailers.

Fair point about the SSD and ram, but that's not exactly an expensive addition. Personally I would pay the extra 2k for a brand new one.

In all honesty, the buyer was quite pleased. It was absolutely mint, not a single scratch on it, plus the SSD and RAM upgrade along with a fairly new inCase hardshell (which cost me R600) made it a fairly easy sale. Coupled with the fact that I had provided original proof of purchase, box etc., he could see that I was meticulous in the way I looked after it. People on Gumtree were asking around the same for machines nowhere nearly as well cared for or similar in spec.

I was probably a bit overly critical of your ask price, I didn't original see the additions.

Are you going to get yourself a new MacBook as replacement? :D

Gonna be replacing with a 13" MacBook Air. I don't need anything near as powerful as the Pro anymore :)
