What car did you first learn to drive in?

It may have been a 1988 Renault 9 TSE but I could be wrong. I've had a soft spot for french cars ever since, even though I've never owned one :D

The first corner I took resulted in a slightly bent rim...

So what car did you first learn to drive in?

My 125cc motorbike
My dad's Isuzu bakkie
My mom's Jetta
My instructor's golf

...and then I got my license and taught myself the rest (things like the car needing to be switched on while going downhill on a narrow road for the hydraulic brakes to work) in a 1997 Hyundai Accent 130cs

An old beat up Toyota Tazz, and a slightly better Mazda from ~2005.

Maybe I should add that I'd never driven a car (or mototbike) before then.

It must have been a swine on the reversing manoeuvres for you, if I remember correctly the Samil had almost no visibility backwards, at least with the Casspir you could just open the back doors and have a really good backward view.

When I was 8 I started driving my dads Mazda bakkie, similar to this.
At 17 I started with my Moms Jetta CLX auto and a City golf to learn the clutch.

A 1979 Ford Escort! I also got my biggest ever speeding fine in this car. On the way home from work the one evening (after a few drinks at the company bar) I decided, "Let's see what this thing can do!" Cranked it up on Otto du Plessis Drive through Paarden Eiland when suddenly, *FLASH!*. Got a fine for R1200 a few weeks later (this was in 2001). I argued it was a 80 zone, not a 60 (as they stated).

Never heard back from them! :D

The ride was really comfy, wouldn't even feel the speed humps and potholes.

My dad took me for my first lesson in a beast like this. The first time I let go of the clutch we ended up on the pavement. My dad took me home and told my mom to teach me how to drive.

A 1300 Laser was much easier to learn on.

What a lot of fun chasing jackal on the farm we had in this Bakkie. Most precious memories.

Around 4 o clock in the morning. Parent had the car lined up to reverse out. Told me to press the accelerator. So I did. Luckily the gate was open!

Ended up in the opposite neighnours driveway :D
