So... I'm pretty sure I could search through all the forums and read countless threads.
I know I should actually as well, as it's what I would tell all my users to do anyway...

After spending the last 5 years away from SA, My Dad contacted me today asking me for advice on a quote he received from what appears to be a supplier of jenny.co.za. Now if you asked me anything about what has happened in the last 24 months regarding beam time and High level Trigger uptime and server pricing at ATLAS for the LHC.. I would be able to answer in a couple of seconds, yet for this.. I have NO idea :(

So.. I'm returning to what I believe was and should still be the best forum for answers and hoping somebody remembers me enough to get some straight answers..

I believe he needs somebody to take over and handle all his companies IT affairs as well.. so....

Anyone game to help an old member our with some advice:D

Cheers
Kal.

PS: Dont bother sending me PM's.... unless you know me, otherwise this should be an open discussion.

Hi Kalvaer

It does depend on what jenny is quoting on, connectivity? PBX? Hosting? It also depends on the budget behind all of this. A large company like EOH has so many other companies under them that he could approach them and have all his needs meet through them. It also depends on where he is located CPT, JHB or DBN. Is the business multi-site or not? Why don't you give us a little more details so we can make a better informed suggestion.

JHB.. Middle of no where :)

Ok, so the company is in between JHB south and Meyerton. I believe the biggest concern now (as it has always been) is that connectivity via telkom infrastructure is unreliable and they spend days/weeks without ADSL. Considering his business is mostly export to overseas clients... this is a issue.

Being away so long, I do not know what things should cost or is even fair. 6 years ago it was Afrihost, and R400 a month ;)... I think things have changed

I also believe he is looking for somebody to handle all of his IT needs as well if that is possible?
I just had no idea of who jenny.co.za even was when he forwarded me all the countless pages of legal documents
