Hi all,

Please share your thoughts & ideas about this website, http://www.3ll.co.za
What do you think about the design?
And the photos?
Do you think the website is practical or functional?

If you had to suggest any improvements, what would it be?

It looks pretty decent, very professionally done. Can't spot any obvious faults, but then that is after browsing for only a minute or so.

seriously - it lacks content. Using times font imo sucks ass.

1) i think the font on the pictures are not readable
2) also the pictures are randomly arranged on each page which i dont like. maybe some consistency in image placment

on the upside, you probably generated well over 100 hits from mybb members to your site since your initial post....:whistling:

hmmm....

in the about page, you have a few small pics but they take forever to load - I see these are actually big pictures?

if the "picture objects" are 150x200 pixels, don't use pics that are 500x410 - resize them in PS to the correct size! should download much faster IMO

I think the photo gallery would look better if it were flash based. Also, the thumbnails needs to be a bit bigger within the photo gallery.

Dude, that sight's landing page may be ok, but you seriously need to do something about your own. It's WAY too messy!

A pet-hate of mine is if the landing / home page's menu structure is different to that of the rest of the page. It kinda spoils the consistency throughout the site. Think about populating your landing page with something other than a glorified menu and having the menu at the top as well - same as the rest of the site. I felt disoriented being confronted with a layout differing from the landing page when I clicked the first link.

it could use a little more finesse (ie. css) personally i dont like the 3d effect menu bar stuck in the middle. Also you're using 3 different kinds of fonts(from what i can see) which i find a problem with.

Using times font imo sucks ass.
i agree.

I like it. Makes me want to think about staying there, especially those door handles.
You've highlighted the style of the place well.

My tips:

1) Change the font from Times New Roman to something better like Arial or something that all PCs have that looks okay.
2) Optimize your pictures: Open them in open source software like PhotoFiltre and resave them with lower quality and less pixels.
3) Use a very light flash-based gallery program (a free one).

That's my advice, if you do it, the site will probably look close to perfect. It's a nice site.

Yes - that will "keep" a lot more people interested in the site for longer

if TINY images take long to load, i'll exit - believe you me, and so will 80% of other people. :D

+ 1

Times (New Roman) font sucks. It hurts my eyes. I often won't remember a site that uses ugly fonts. It just looks cheap, with no thought given to finer details. Use Arial instead, or any other common Sans-serif font.

Sans-serif fonts have become the de facto standard for body text on-screen, especially online. This is partly because interlaced displays may show twittering on the fine details of the horizontal serifs. Additionally, the low resolution of digital displays in general can make fine details like serifs disappear or appear too large.

You also need more structure, a better layout, and consistancy throughout the site.

The cursive writing is way ugly. Don't like the logo too much. It is too busy, with too many overlapping things... I won't remember it. You need something simpler, but bolder.

The photogallery can be improved on greatly. There are many great free photo-gallery plugins or scripts you can use to create a neat spiffy interactive photo-gallery. Are you using a CMS for this website? Do a google search and you will find better ones out there.

Overall, the site is too harsh on the eyes.

Hope I wasn't too harsh on you  But good luck!
