Hi all

Forgive my ignorance, I am in the process of getting adsl. Telkom offered me a Marconi modem, but I see that you get lots of these modems/routers from pc shops. Which make would you advise me to buy (d-link/dynalink/mecer etc) and does Telkom still supply this thing called a micro filter or splitter (same thing?, I dont know)if you dont buy their expensive modem?

If I have to buy my own splitter/micro-filter were do I buy it?

Thanks for your help

I wouldnt buy a Telkom's modem.
I would get a ADSL Wireless Router for future upgrades if you get Wireless.
Try Zyzel or DLink. Just make sure that it has all the PPoe stuff onboard. Its so much simpler to use. You set the modem up once and you never have to touch any software on your PC.
Also, but Im not sure on this point. Can you use the Telkom Modem to a differnt operator if you ever want to change away from Telkom later.

The pots filter you can buy from Telkom for about R50. Ask the telkom techie where you can buy one.
