Do you know of a quiet pure sine wave inverter? If so, please recommend! I am also facing the angry spouse who wants quiet.
Goodwe and Victron , The Goodwe ES 3.6kW is available locally. Victron's Phoenix Inverters and RS Smart I have been told that these are very quiet.

- Did you do research about the product? Plenty. And received lots of crazy quotes from "experts" that raised more questions than answers.
- Was your decision influenced by an expert or a recommendation by a friend? Yes, Steve, Powerforumstore, he was a breath of fresh air. The Powerforum was also a great source of knowledge.
- Are you satisfied with your purchase? Yes, very happy with Sunsynk
- Would you have chosen differently? No, will do exactly the same, but this time go for Hubble batteries vs Pylontech
Always happy to read a post from you :)

Prefer Hubbles 1C rating?

@Weable Technology - a friendly heads-up: the idea is for dealers to register as dealers with MyBB. You seem to be using the forum for commercial market research, so it may be a good idea to register before a mod gives you grief.

Re the question: I chose a Victron as the power mixing is done on the AC side, not on the DC side. Essentially, the inverter is a 4 kW inverter, and if the load is 10 kW, it will take 4 kW from panels/battery and 6 kW from Eskom. The pass-through capability of the Victron is very sweet. That said, it was some time ago, so I've gotten behind on what is currently available in the market.
We are trying to engage with the local community on my broadband to understand what this community is about. We have spoken to the mods and they said we needed to be active for 3 months or have 50 messages posted on the forum. This is what we trying to do through community engagement.

Awesome, I see there is quite a number of knowledgeable folks out here like @RonSwanson , @wingnut771 , @Snyper564 , @AchmatK .
I can't speak for the others, but I don't think that any of us are engineers, @Smugs was just being sarky without using a different font type :giggle:.
At best, I am an enthusiastic user with a techie mindset, and that may well be for all of us, except of course Oom @Geoff.D who clearly has a wealth of technical engineering expertise to share.

Performance - hybrid grid-tied, true sinewave, 12 kVA sustained required, support for two AC sources and gennie autostart.
Proven ruggedness and reliability in African conditions.
Local support and availability of spares.
SABS approval for SSEG islanding requirements.
Professionalism and reputation of designers, manufacturers, installers.
Price was last/minor consideration.
It's a Victron system, isn't it?

Prefer Hubbles 1C rating?
Yes, amongst other reasons, like price performance, locally manufactured and represented, and the killer is the form factor. For my Pylontechs I had to buy an expensive (90's style) cabinet. I was trained by my journeyman never to install expensive equipment on the floor, so I had to frankenmonster geyser brackets to mount it on the wall. The Hubble AM-2s are easier on the eye.

There’s a lot of factors that are important when buying an inverter
- Did you do research about the product?

Total research = 1st 3 posts of this thread and some final questions before I pulled the trigger.

- Was your decision influenced by an expert or recommendation by a friend?

See above.

- Are you satisfied with your purchase?

Funny enough bar the LA batteries I'm very happy

- Would you have chosen differently?

Would have gone for a 12v system and a single LifePO4 for the same price as I paid for my 24v system + 2 x Lead acids. In my defence when I bought my inverter, LifePO4's was not really an option for said unit.

I have a Victron.

- Did you do research about the product?
>> Yes, in particular, the Modbus support and that I could easily access the data from it from something like Home Assistant.

- Was your decision influenced by an expert or a recommendation by a friend?
>> Yes, family. My dad already had Victron inverters.

- Are you satisfied with your purchase?
>> Yes

- Would you have chosen differently?
>> Yes, possibly just a Multiple II instead of a 1.
Yes the new multiplus II comes with a lot of new features, even dual AC input disconnect relays and a more modern circuit composition.

For you guys using power trolley inverters, have any of you placed an earth leakage circuit breaker in between the output of the trolley and your load? It occurred to me the other day when I was looking at all my extension cables connected to my power trolley that there is absolutely no earth leakage protection if someone should accidentally shock themselves with anything plugged into the inverter. Sure, there is an earth connection that connects to your home's earth system via the AC charging cable, but without an earth leakage circuit breaker to actually cut the power it means nothing.
Always wondered if there was some protection when the inverter is in battery mode as I feel it would disconnect you from the earth protection on the AC side and how will the inverter actually protect you in that event

100% agree with you there. Pylon could have at least pulled up their socks a bit and given different options for mounting, I have seen some using heavy-duty shelving brackets to make them wall-mounted, essentially removing the need for a cabinet. Their new force L2 soon to be launched here is quite pleasing on the eyes but this is a free-standing type option.

Discovered many of them are made by the same factory i.e. Voltronix ie.g. Mecer, RTC ect
Yes Voltronic is the main manufacture and there is quite a number of brands floating around that are all from the same pie, just a different sticker
