Branding does not make me jump with joy but consider this:
If you get a Nokia in the UK (on Vodafone) it will not only be branded Vodafone it will also be Network Locked! In fact all networks in the UK with the exception of O2 (Cellnet as was) network lock their handsets. This contravenes an EU directive, but its only a directive OK! They must unlock them for free at the customers request... They do this free well apart from the £40 (+-R560) administration fee!
How to stop branding:
Walk into your cellular providor and say:
"I want a ******* and it must not be network branded" and if they say no, say OK I want a contract for a SIM only and I'll buy my own fully un-branded handset because your ones are poo!
OK so you'll have to pay up front for your handset instead of buying over two years at double the price but at least you can tell the network what to do with their branded handset!
