What game are you playing now? (Part 2)

The entire game feels like a chore, not just the combat. The combat itself is annoying and exploration is boring. I've only explored the first part of the world though around the first city. Not sure if I should continue or rather try #2...
Yeah didn't enjoy Ni No Kuni 1 either. After the rave reviews thought it was just me. Luckily it was bought on sale so not too much damage to the wallet

Should have asked earlier - do you have the DLC? Recommended - or only after many hours?

Base game should be about R90 tonight - sounds like a no brainer.

I am still playing the core game. No idea about dlc or anything like that.

Please make sure to get the Archaeologist Edition, I also want to get it on Steam for the DLC after finishing the main game on gamepass, the game is brilliant and I heard the DLC is like a whole new game's worth of content.

Just as I was typing lol.
Haha - cool. Reason I asked is Steam top review says finish base game before getting DLC - but that's one person's opinion. Says it can be a bit confusing with both as a beginner. I don't care - I'm usually confused, so nothing new... but if it makes the game deeper, with a stiffer learning curve - I'm all for that.

Edit:

Even reddit divided on the question, lol. (Reddit divided... who'd have thought ;) )

Honestly wouldn't know since I haven't played the DLC yet, you could always go back to the main game's content if you find the DLC to be confusing or too difficult since it certainly isn't a "linear" game where you have to do things in a specific order.

But I just played the game like 2 weeks ago when they re-added it to gamepass and all I can say is that people who haven't played it yet are seriously missing out, which is why I recommend buying the bundle since you'll land up buying the DLC anyway if you finish the game because it's just so good.

I was very confused when I first started the game but as I found out more I started really getting into it, so don't worry if you have a similar experience because it's pretty normal from what I've heard.

I went into it completely blind and it made the experience so much better, I didn't even know the basic premise of the game when I started it (I guess thanks to gamepass I didn't need to think about anything before downloading it).

So yeah just go for it, don't worry about what others say about how to play it, the mystery and exploration is what makes the game one of the best I've ever played.

Will do - thanks for the insights. Started looking for reviews, but they all start by saying better off going in blind. May grab the DLC if on decent discount tonight - might even disable it initially. But will grab the base game tonight at least - can always get the DLC later.

It's one of those games that genuinely makes me fall asleep after playing 10min. So slow-paced.

This game is too stressful for me, lol. Hours of peaceful searching around, gearing up with occasion bursts of panic stricken chaos.. Can get intense - but have fun! :)

Awesome, if you want to learn the game in peace, try African soldier
Thanks man, I'll check it out. The different servers all have different mods, so busy learning the different building methods etc.

Think I'm getting there finally though.

100%, I don't have time to login everyday so let me know if you have an issue.

On the building thing, I have the build anywhere mod. Just makes it easier.

I removed the pretty terrible Ni No Kuni 1 and started 2 instead. The game is so much better already in every way. Especially the combat. Huge improvement.

So far so good.

Outer Wilds is just so great. My jaw has been constantly dropping with the stuff I'm discovering. It's gonna go down as one of my top all-time games.
A few hours in, and still don't have much of an idea what I'm doing, lol. Going in blind does seem the best way. Just when I think I've solved something, I end up dead again - but I get what you mean by endless surprises.
