Yes, that an accurate screenshot of gameplay.
I watched the documentary about Doom 2016, and the Game Director talked at length about how they wanted to skip the intro, the story and whatever and just wanted you to kick demon ass.
Seems like they changed their mind with Eternal. Story, game mechanic popup popup popup popup, then shoot a bit. Then new game mechanic popup, then some story, then platforming and then popup.
Then see the base, game mechanic popup.
Shoot stuff, platform a bit, then back at the base where you have to explore stuff to see stuff before you can shoot stuff again.
Lots of weak point targeting. Low ammo so you should constantly glory kill and chainsaw and flame throw etc, turning it more into a gimmick shooter than Doom 2016 was.
They clearly wanted to change things up a bit from 2016, but the game is worse for it.
It's still enjoyable, but not as good as I had hoped.
