Is anybody going to pick up Death Stranding?

From the reviews I've watched it seems like there is some serious Kojima Hype Distortion Field with this one. Looks like FedEx: The Game to me. And I'm 99% sure if it had been anybody else besides Kojima coming out with a game like this it would have been panned.

TWO HOUR cut scene at the end and the the reviewer still doesn't know what's going on? Tsek! At R1k a game can't be wasting it on looks-trash-but-could-have-some-charm nonsense. I got caught up in the MGS:V hype-train but now, hell no.

Still undecided atm. I loved the MGS series but I'm not too sure about this game as yet. The story line itself "seems" compelling but I'm not sure if thats enough. Mads and Norman though . . . ag! I don't know.

I'm gonna wait a while then decide.

From the one review I've watched (and the last to avoid spoilers), it has similarities to journey. Have you played that?

I guess that's the only decent Warhammer-based title which isn't a strategy.
Possibly. I played the Warcraft games which were a lot of fun (top down) - this is like that but from a first person perspective. We are having so much fun. Perhaps it does lack in story and other technical things - but with a group of friends on TS or in chat - it is awesome. Especially those that get into character and know the lore. You die laughing. We haven't bought the DLCs yet - so bare that in mind. You get a set number of maps but we are playing through them on all difficulty levels. Gets quite tough when you are 4 and there is one health potion. You have to have chosen your talents wisely. And each character has three career paths - so replaying each of those career paths. And they move the items around - so you cannot just run through a level either. As you can see - I am really enjoying it - despite the reviews.

I am loving Vermintide 2. I know the reviews are bad but if you play with good friends - it is an awesome game!!!
It's fun for a bit but gets very grindy and unrewarding. Played with friends for around 10-15 hours before we all got bored.

*Edit am both a WH and 40k fan.

Treated myself to another subscription to iRacing. Damn rand makes it one expensive endeavour.

Oooooph, see its around R180pm. Is the sub worth it? Also spending on cars etc?

Its expensive. The in-game store is also in US$, so its a costly investment from our perspective. You are looking at $11.95 to $15.95 per car and per track. You get enough free base content to start out, but as you progress through the licenses you need to start buying stuff.

You do get bulk discounts; 10% off for 3 - 5 items; 15% off for 6 or more. You also get participation credits. Enter enough official races during the year and you can earn as much as $40 in credit.

You simply cannot play it at any sort of competent level without a proper steering wheel. There is no AI. Its 100% online against other people. Lots of pro-drivers use it. Lando Norris of F1 is a regular on the server and used it extensively to stay sharp in the F1 off-season.

Its heavily regulated as well through a user protest system. Because people are paying a lot of money, trolling, griefing and reckless driving is not tolerated. Drive the wrong way and the other drivers can and will protest you and you'll be banned very quickly. And because people are paying money to be there, a lot are reluctant to even risk upsetting other people and want to get their value, so overall the driving is far superior to anything you will find on any other sim. Of course there are exceptions, you will come across a troll or two and the driving can still be bad because not everyone is good at it, but once you get out of the rookie stuff and start racing with more serious people, the experience generally improves.

Some people do take it a little too seriously, so have a mute button mapped when the iRaging starts over the in-game voice chat.

Its more a hobby than a game to be honest. If you want a quick arcadey pick-up race or two you have things like Assetto Corsa and Project Cars. If you want something a little more sim you have rFactor2 and Automobilista. If you want to go all the way its iRacing.

Why not Gran Turismo Sport?

Fascinating, I remember hearing about it years ago and wasn't sure if the concept would work. Glad it has and it sounds like the devs are working with the community which is awesome.

I haven't played it. Its PS4 exclusive, I was comparing the PC arcade/sim racers I have experience with.

From what I can tell though, GT Sport looks like it will slot in with Assetto Corsa and Project Cars on the simcade side of the spectrum.

You also get RaceRoom Racing Experience. Its free-to-play but like iRacing, it has limited base content. You have to purchase additional cars and tracks. Nice thing about this one is you can test the cars before you buy them.

It's FIA-Certified, so I would put it above those.

One of Gran Turismo Sport's main focuses is competitive online racing, being supported by the international governing body of motorsport, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), and serving as the platform for the FIA-Certified Gran Turismo Championships.

Don't argue the credentials. Just consoles tend to lag behind PC when it comes to physics and what they can code/simulate/process. Specifically, the limitations of consoles in these areas.

Project Cars was developed and programmed simultaneously for PC and console. Assetto Corsa was developed for PC and then ported to console. Assetto Corsa has the superior physics and the devs of Assetto Corsa specifically spoke about trying to avoid ''dumbing'' the physics down when they ported to console. This is why I'd bracket GT Sport with them.

iRacing and rFactor are not on console nor could they be. Just too much going on. rFactor's developmental life started as the basis for an F1 simulator. These two are light-years ahead of anything that can be found on a console.

One of my all time favourite arcade games! Still playing the ROM on RetroArch with a controller, but nothing beats an old school joystick combined with that distinct arcade smell of cigarette butts and chappies. Would love to own my own cabinet for this beaut one day.
