I tried that after all the hype... got about 10 min and quit. A month later I hadn't been back so unistalled it yesterday.

Been to busy with my crops and cattle and sheep in farming simulator 2019.

You are missing nothing. Disgusting how over hyped the outer worlds was, but fanboys gonna fanboy.
Played just over an hour wand was bored out of my mind and New Vegas is my favourite Fallout. Probably played over 300 hours and still go back to it at least twice a year.

People are pissed at Bethesda and that's the only reason The Outer worlds got as high scores as it did.

Never been a huge fall out fan, got a hundred or so hours clocked on Fallout 4, (flip can't even remember what it's called) and spent some time on the Fallout 3, never played New Vegas, much prefer Elder scrolls games, but I did't see much to recommend outer worlds, Maybe I didn't give it enough time.

You played an hour of OW and you decided it's overhyped and boring?

If you are not having fun after an hour, why should I keep playing?
Is it my job to search within the game to find entertainment?

Yeah, I don't force myself to play something hoping that it gets better. If it starts bad, I move on.
There are better games to spend time on.

I would say a game like that needs a good amount of time invested to get a feel for whether it's good or not. Any real open world game takes time for the game to start opening up and the storylines to develop. I think you didn't give it a fair shot. Eniigma just said he clocked over a hundred hours on Fallout4 and he isn't even a huge fan.

The problem I have from the start is how empty it feels. The game world does not seem alive. NPC's just stand in one place or move from A to B and back again, repeat.
It's drab and not setting drab, boring drab and not engaging. There is way to much clutter, and not world building clutter to make the game look lived in, clutter that clutters up you inventory turning into a inventory manager.
Armour looks dreadful, the weapons, meh. The combat is passable, but not enough to make up for the rest.
I also do not like the art style. The environment is nice to look at, but the characters look awful.

If this game was released in 2010 I would've loved it, but the last decade has seen way too much innovation in world building and immersion for this to have been scored as high as it has

I will probably give it another go eventually, but for me it's nowhere close to 80,90 / 100

We need to start a gaming mini review thread like in the entertainment thread.

Again, this is all after 1 hour of gameplay. It's mostly about the stories and the world building, and I don't think you gave it enough time to judge that. I feel like the story in OW is really excellent.

I will give it another go eventually, but unfortunately time is limited and when your time is limited you want to spend the time you have for your hobby on what you find enjoyable and engaging from the start.
I do not have the time to go out and find the enjoyment.

Lol yeah I also ended up playing other things because of time. It really sucks. You can pick it up again or not, all I'm saying is, I don't think you can call it overhyped if you barely even scratched the surface of it.

I've been on a bit of a Witcher trip after the Netflix show, so I replayed The Witcher 2, choosing the Vernon Roche side after Act 1. I've just finished that, and moved on the The Wild Hunt now, importing my savegame, but doing a New Game+ with all my stuff from my previous playthrough.

Gotta decide if I'm going to go with Triss or Yennifer this time, previous time I tried courting both, and well, that didn't end well.

I dunno I never liked any of the fallout games but loved the outerworlds, it was the first proper RPG that has been developed in years which is probably why I liked it so much.

Just finishing off DBZ: Kakarot (chasing a relatively easy platinum trophy) and then I'll be back onto Witcher3, which should carry me over until Nioh 2/Doom Eternal in March.

First proper RPG in years?
Um, no. Outer worlds is an action RPG
Proper RPG games of the last few years:

Divinity Original sin 2 - 2017
Pillars of Eternity 2 - 2018
Pathfinder Kingmaker - 2018
Ni no Kuni 2 - 2018 (technically a jrpg)
And of course the souls games if that is your type of thing

You seem to be misinformed

DOS2 is a solid 9/10 game. Seriously good.
POE2...I don't know why but, I just can't finish it. Like, it's not a bad game but I just can't finish it. I attempted maybe 3 goes at trying to enjoy it? I played maybe 10 hours and then I was over it.
Kingmaker was really good too, 7/10 due to the sheer amount of bugs months after release. 8/10 otherwise. I never finished it though since around the time my PC got fried and just didn't have the cash to replace everything. When I finally did my PC up, I was so overwhelmed by where I was left off, that I decided to not continue..

A proper DnD style RPG takes a lot of time and investment.
I recently started a new playthrough of Neverwinter Nights 2 and the investment is immense

Pillars of eternity is hard. you need to think about your character build and can't just put points where you want and still easily succeed, but that is why a proper RPG is so rewarding.

That is why the open world action RPG has become so popular.
You kill stuff, do quests and ad points to a few stats - done. It's impossible to have a difficult character build, because it ultimately doesn't matter.

I'm with the other guy on this. If I don't find a game interesting after an hour then I uninstall it.
