you can get away in upgrading once every 5 years, if - when you upgrade - you do it properly and go all out ;)

I prefer to upgrade incrementally and very regularly. This last month managed to upgrade to an extra tb + 128gb ssd, and a 680 lightning. I'll see what I can do about the GPU next month because atm I think a 770 or 290 is minimum.

Not sure what to play with it though. Ori is awesome and I'll getting through it. I like the look of that new HL2 mod, maybe I'll give that a bash. Wish Valve would quit muck about with Linux and make some games again :(

I call BS, could you please provide some links to those game benchmarks where they got 3x the fps with mantle enable. I'm not interested in some synthetic benchmark where the performance spiked for a second ala pmpo.

Just google for DX12 benchmark, there are a lot of numbers out there that are a lot more than 3x. Initially they believed they could get +2x, but benchmarks are showing anything up to +13x.

BUT having said that, a game isn't the same as a benchmark, it requires more than just raw output and is usually tied to a single main thread that all other threads need to sync to. Just because a benchmark does +10x performance doesn't mean a game is going to...BUT it might mean that we can get to 2-3x. Either way it'll take time to adapt...

Mantle is done too, AMD seems to be abandoning it in favour of DX12/Vulkan (which is a good thing).

Just google ...

No, if someone makes a claim they should at least back it up with some bencmarrks. I'm not buying into any of the dx12 or vulkan hype until such time as we get some realworld gaming benchmarks.

Btw, AMD left Mantle as an open standard which basically became vulkan, MS adopted some of it.

The claims being made are only that there's no reason to believe that DX12 is being overhyped. Just reserve your opinion until it's actually out and real world benchmarks are available.

Mantle isn't done, AMD will support and collaborate with Microsoft in developing DX12. You'll see lots of Mantle's technology in DX12. This will put Mantle on the back burner at AMD, maybe, but as they help Microsoft, some tech/development will come back to Mantle.
And remember, there is also Vulcan API, based on Mantle, that's still in developement. This backed by Valve, the new Source engine and DOTA 2 runs on it.

Well done.

Personally I'm not a fan of games that let u finish before you're finished.

But ja.

What's next?

Really did not feel like doing all the minor things running around collecting schite.

Not sure, Thief or Tombraider I think, there's also Withcher 2 but thinking I should rather just wait for 3 as you don't require previous story knowledge. Not fond of COD AW.

Think of it as a game that allows you to do more stuff after you finished...as a bonus.

I get it but I still don't like it.

So as long as one avoids Pagan Mins castle you can run round and complete stuff ?

Yes, but you can complete stuff even after you defeated him. But I didn't bother. Completing all those side missions are boring and pointless :/

Make sure you check out the outposts created by the community. I had loads of fun playing them. King of the Mountain is the best one I came across.
