So what happened here?

The place is like Conspiracy Central.
I read some threads and is seems like I have inadvertently stumbled into happy hour at Valkenberg hospital.

Has the forum become a safe space for the unhinged.?

I've been around these parts for the better part of 15yrs and I've never known the place like it is now - almost daily more lunacy appears.
For a psychologist or psychiatrist it must be like stumbling upon a funfair - where all rides are free.

Often sources quoted on thread creation are utterly obscure, one can click the link to the source, ignore the quoted content and click on the home page of that source to quickly get an idea of the batschittery that lies ahead.

The most common themes are somehow related to a new work order.
"Big Pharma" is another favorite.
Flat earthers have now been relagated to the back seats.

Have the lunatics finally taken over the asylum.?

Except that Grant can back up his claims. The conspiracy theorists, pseudoscientists and religious nuts on MyBB have no evidence for their claims. Yet keep posting them despite not being able to back them up when asked to.

Many replies to posts are a long way off topic and seem to represent a rant against a legitimate opinion expressed by the author

Reply #10 is an example, no editorial value at all

The standard of posts has also deteriorated. Many are well thought out replies, but some seem have been dictated into a phone which then renders it into text

There has been a guttenberg moment in the last 10 years or so.

The MSM in the last 10 years lost their gatekeepers and the monopoly on the political narrative (shared reality),

So ideas that were slurred away as conspiracy, denialist or <insert crazy here>, are no longer as insane as one believed.

I think we are just divided into an internet where most people trust and accept the dogma given to them by authority and others are more prepared to open their mind and not afraid of being wrong or labeled crazy.

To top it off further, the like button and shared button has created online eco chambres that can appear to be cult like, the truth is though that everyone is now in an echo chambre of sort.

I kind of like this world, but others find it scary.

If you think this is bad, check out Stormfront. They're gone from bad to batshit crazy within a year... I had to delete dozens of posts in just a few hours today.

One of the issues is when posts are backed up by sound clear references to respected scientific papers, research documents, these are automatically rejected and branded as fake, without any attempts to even read the content.

The ONLY message that counts is that one promoted by whoever wants to push an agenda. The slightest deviation to offer an alternative leads to a virtually automatic personal attack on the person posting it.

As an example:

The new Pfizer drug soon to be approved for use against Covid 19.

1. There are ONLY internal trials to back up the efficacy, effectiveness and safety.
2. The trials have been terminated because Pfizer declares "they" have learnt enough.
3. The research has NOT been peer-reviewed.
4. The claims that the new drug is a Protease Inhibitor is ONLY backed up by ONE "in silico" study in the public domain.

Yet it is is hailed as the saviour drug with a "press release" by Pfizer to back it up.

Now there are other drugs that have been shown to be equally effective, backed up by the same in silico methods. Yet they will be rejected with the claims that it is "only" supported by in silico research.

Those drugs are unilaterally rejected, even when the results are supported by a peer review process done by many different researchers.

Where is the logic?
