BitFarm have a notice on their home page regarding NewsHost.

"NH Users: NewsHost is in the process of being resolved. We will let you know when it is back up. Regards, BF Staff"

So as soon as there is an update on this I will post accordingly.

Hope this help.

they are using ns1 2 and 3 from frostnet.co.za for their dns and those servers appear to be poked. Now if only one had an IP to add to a host file :whistling:

Here's the thing about NewsHost that I love. They don't have every single thing on their lists. Only the content we all actually care about is listed there. Browsing through the articles on all the other news sites is tedious, and it's very difficult to find that which you actually want. Hope they get their DNS sorted soon.

I'm finding it a little hard to believe that it's just a DNS issue. DNS can be redirected quickly. Just swap out the NS records at the registrar and use the same DNS that BF uses. Heck, I'll put the zone on my DNS server if they need that.

To be down 4 days from just DNS issues just doesn't seem likely.

...

Yesterday the website displayed a message stating that there is an error and that they are working on a fix, and they have no idea how long it will take. I suspect they may have been DDOS'd.

it the past NH has been down longer than 4 days, besides content, the forums are the best part about that place and the community, must understand this site is funded out of their own pockets. they never do donation drive or anything.

Well if you can reach them you can offer it to them... maybe they are just waiting for the ISP to recover, however frostbite ISP page seems to be down, so as you say there may be more to this than just DN (they could have admin control of the domain and could have gone under for example, now a dispute has to be logged to move control to another party).... Can be many things. But on the surface it seems to be the DNS.

It's dead, history, finished. DNS records are removed by the hosting company. They only do this when the site/server have been shutdown/contract expired.

Or when client moves to new hosting and takes the DNS with them.

Yeah the thing is there was no notice. As I know the admin on the site they'd have let the users know it will be shutting down beforehand.
