What happened with MTN's fibre to the home plans?

So more marketing BS then... great.

**EDIT**

I just want someone to actually DO the rollout, then launch and say "This is what we've done, apply now and we'll bring you online now"

A journalist would have asked people in the estate before publishing this story.

They just bought Afrihost, so maybe that has something to do with it?

Telkom pilot has over 200 home-user participants...

Its partly why I'm impressed with Telkom atm, they're not crowing from the roof tops and releasing all sorts of PR's about when they will launch etc etc..

In Afriman we trust?

Shows you how desperate we are. To be impressed with Telkom.:crying:

Honestly, Telkom have impressed me countless times recently. They fix problems quickly, they answer the phones and deal with issues quickly.

Ain't you just a little ray of Telkom-saturated sunshine .. 'cos lots of people have reported the exact opposite

Is there some magic list where I can say "pick me pick me" for whatever future pilot they run? I get depressed when I think I'm stuck on 4mbps until I move my house 50m down the road (Telkom explained that an upgrade isn't being planned here).

They probably realised with the One Cloud discussions that R1k fibre is not commercially viable.

My brother in Australia has a similar issue, but worse - he built a house in a new area, and the telecoms provider just said no, we don't plan on ever connecting up that area, but we sell a mobile product. Anyway, my brother bought a line to a friend's house 100m away which does have connectivity (a massive 5mbit, no uncapped, makes our internet look good!) and ran a wifi connection. That's always an option for you?

Edit: I run a wifi link to a workmate of mine nearby, 2x Nanostation M2's - cost <R1000 for the pair, and works great... over 200m we have a 80mbit rock solid connection.

"MTN is refusing to comment on whether it went ahead ....." of course they didn't when they realised they could live up to the promised price structures. Promise..delay..make people desperate..charge more

Most of the people I know recently are very impressed with telkom in regards to their service... yes there will always be unhappy ppl, no matter which company
