thanks chaps

looks like a Shield if I want to keep things easy to use, and I've read that one can just plug in an HDD for added storage.

Yesterday I requested and received a trial from SA Streams: https://sastreams.co.za/

some feedback:

Good
Price: R190pm
Good UK channels & UK sports selection
Not much buffering on UK channels
Most US FHD channels are 1080p
Decent & somewhat extensive EPG
VH1 classic

Bad
None of the major sports (F1, football, cricket) FHD channels are actually in FHD: they are not even HD but 576p!
Only a few of the UK series channels are FHD
Limited worldwide channel selection, e.g., no EU channels
Major buffering on some US channels, especially ESPN, Starz

Conclusion
Seeing that F1 is not in FHD, I will pass on this service.

Some of the streaming companies does not make live sport streaming available for the trial.

Currently trialing https://www.fastip.tv.

Very impressed with the logical grouping of channels, and most of them are available in SD, HD, and FHD, so usable with different Internet speeds.

For the F1 fans, this service has the F1 TV channels as well.

Minimal buffering on the UK channels, plenty of other EU channels, good EPG.

I like this service a lot when compared to other ones, especially since the inclusion of Italian, German, and Spanish sports channels, there are multiple redundancies for watching F1.

Is it legal in SA?

(I don't think so?)
Of course not. They aren't legal in any country.

I see now that NTV.mx looks to have kicked the dust. That's too bad - from my experience back in the day they were by miles the best.

Ask them to provide you with one?

Really. I received 3 replies from them this afternoon.
Use VLC or Mytvplayer. Smarters I find a waste. For me that is.
Look at your email for the url and username and password. Nothing to create. Read the instructions.
You should have received it after payment.
Example: http:// ............................ get.php?username=FILL IN USERNAME&password=FILL IN PASSWORD&type=m3u_plus&output=ts

Thanks for the reply and assistance.
They did send it through after about an hour. Didn't think they would outside their support hours though.
Great service so far.

So is streamiptv still the best (for sport mostly), They seem to have stuck around for a while so looks to be reliable.

What app must you run on an LG TV?

See if the tv has smart iptv app. I use that on a samsung.
They use to give you a 7 day trial and there after a once off payment of 6 euro.

Epic iptv/sastreams.
I have tried the above. Not bad for the price but way to many channels and also lots of xxx. How many of this do you really want to see.
For my setup it is to many channels to load. Take ages.
Iptv should move to that you choose the channels you want to watch. Even if it cost the same.
So yes I prefer STREAMIPTV. Works like a charm.
