Ok i have played wow on US server and really love the game but i cannot warrant anything over about R40 a month for anygame no matter how good and that is even a lot so i want to try Guild Wars but i don't want to buy a game that i will not love or else it is waste. Can anyone plz tell me how GW compares to WOW in the way items, shops, PvP, dungeons and character customization. Are the just 20 straight levels or are there sub levels cos even wows 60 i think is too low and is there an auction house.Plz could someone also tell me what tiers of items there are like in wow you get grey, green, blue, purple. Finally and probly most important how does GW US and UK latency compare to Wow US.
Thanks for your time.

Sorry i don't really have access to the software i don't know anyone who has it, i was hoping to find out what is like before i tried to get it.
One more thing in GW are high level characters very different cos in wow they too similar no matter what talents you take 2 warriors are almost identical in power all comes down to items.
Suggestion would be to try a trial or several days of it then. Think Scooby Doo mentioned he can help.
All you need is a small installer client and then the installer will actually download the rest of the game for you. As long as you have a trial key, it is all good.
This might be quite a bit of data though, about 700MB or so. So, ye it will eat into your bandwidth cap if you have any.
Plus I think the trial gives you 10 or 14 days or so. This is plenty time to level your character in Factions to lvl20 and enjoy the game in all its splendour. No way you can do this in WoW.
Like the guys said, 20 is the cap, but it is no where near the end. You can still do so much more after this. Character customization never stops, with all the different types of armor, weapons and different kinds of builds / skills you can use.
You have 8 different classes, and these classes you can create different combos from, warrior/mesmer to mesmer/ranger, assassin/ritualist, etc etc.
Once you created a character, you can change the secondary profession without a problem, to any of the 7 remaining classes.
Guild Wars is all about skill, i.e. how you use it. IMO WoW is a bit unfair in this case whereby you must literally play for months on end to get all the good stuff and then if you as a new lvl60 character come up against this guy, he will absolute annihilate you. No doubt.
Basically, the guys that have the most online time is the guys that have all the best armor and weapons, etc. In GW it is not so.
Armor and weapons are pretty much the same, with some slight differences for specific skills / builds. Skill makes the difference.
Character customization and progressions have changed a bit between the first chapter, Guild Wars and Guild Wars Factions, the second chapter.
In the first one, you had to play for a bout 1-2 weeks before you could get to lvl20 and ascend (this is basically reaching the highest 'rank' in PvE).
In Factions you can do it in a matter of 3-4 days, with about 3-4 hours of game time each day.
You can also change your secondary profession as many times as you want, provided you have reached the stage in the game that will allow this, which is Ascension in Prophecies (first chapter) and called Closer to the Stars in Factions.
In Guild wars, there are specific 'elite' areas, just like Molten Core in WoW, we have UnderWorld, Fissure of Woe, The Deep and Urgoz's Warren. These all drop specific items that cannot be found anywhere else in the game.
You also fight specific bosses for elite skills and weapons that can be found almost everywhere in the game.
I think by now you know Guild Wars is an instanced game, so not going to mention too much about this. The post by DigitalSoldier has indicated this much as well as the link to one of my earlier posts.

The above thread is actually a very good starter (read: n00b

) guide or more info guide. You will be up and running in no time.
We dont have auction houses. Guild Wars makes use of a trading channel ($) for use when in towns or outposts, where everyone sees everyone else and can communicate freely with them, no matter where they are. We dont even have to be in the same time zone or belong to the same country versions.
I am not really familiar with latency to WoW but for Guild Wars it is a non-issue IMO. My average latency is about 350ms.
I have played Guild Wars on several different connections, 56k analogue, GPRS, ADSL, HSDPA. No issues on either. In some respects 56k actually worked better than GPRS
Hope it helps.
