Then SARS has never queried your medical claims. It's happened to me twice over the last few years. The fist time I was well prepared and had all the documents. As for the 2012 tax year, I'm still trying to get proper proof of payment for all my medical expenses. It's a nightmare, especially when you paid the doctor by EFT or credit card and lost some of your bank statements.

In future I will keep a box for medical expenses and every single invoice, receipt and proof of EFT will go into that box.

Ja I think I need to start doing that. Especially as I'm on a plan now with no MSA...

This is what I do, but so far SARS has never asked for supporting documents.

Just keep all your supporting documents for at least five years. I doubt SARS has the resources to focus on individuals but they do random audits.

Additional question - Can I do my "calculation" to see if SARS owes me anything yet but not submit - work has issued IRP5's to SARS, but not us yet.

We need to compare them to those loaded on our profiles - also waiting for a tax reciept from a charitable orginisation.

Just wanna see what it looks like so far

Don't use the form. If you click on recalc too many times it flags you - its a sign of someone trying to adjust things.

If you have the necessary skill you can calculate it by hand though.
