What is the best way to convert iTunes m4v to avi?

I bought couples of iTunes m4v movies and I hear avi is best for editing, is that right? How can I convert iTunes m4v to avi in a easy way? I am grateful for any help.

Not with the DRM no.

Otherwise yeah.

But MP4 is a winning format so why you would want to change it is beyond me.

The "editing" story is also bollocks as most cameras capture in MP4 anyway.

Regardless of the fact that MP4, AVI, MKV are generally just containers for the underlying encoder format which is what really matters.

Just select the video format as MPEG4 and rename the output file to .avi then bob's your uncle.

Wont work. Also AVI is a crap container. MP4 is best. MKV is just a variation of MP4 with a few more features (like more audio channels).

Also depending on what you are using to edit, I usually leave files as they were and edit those. Each time you transcode a video to another lossy compression, you lose quality.

I tend not to promote ways to do illegal things where I can help it. Editing copyrighted material would fit right in there.

Thanks for all your help, I tried Handbrake, but it doesn't recognize DRM files. I am happy to get the DRmare M4V Converter to hep me remove DRM and convert M4V to avi. Thanks again, have a good day.
