The blower type quoted above(brand immaterial) is not a hair dryer, does not spray moisture either. Or at least such is my experience.
I said electro-static particles...not "spray moisture"?

As far as I can tell the charge seems to collect on the nozzle of the blower though...so I *think* it should be OK if there is no contact. Its a kinda sketchy line of thought though since there should be an opposite charge somewhere...presumably in the air.

Its all a bit fuzzy, I just recall trying to argue against this and losing badly.

You must stand on a special ESD mat then place the PC on another ESD mat, use a crocodile clip connecting that mat to the PC then use a ESD wrist guard connecting you to the PC.

Any type of vacuum (expect special ones made for PC's) will damage your PC.

Seriously WTF does that :wtf:

Dont use compressed air, it only pushes the dust furthur into the components.Use a vacuum cleaner with a small attachment.

Make sure to use a computer vacuum and not a normal one as a normal one can generate static electricity and fry your motherboard/CPU/RAM.

Generally a safe way is to use compressed air made for computers and to use it in very short bursts so as not to create condensation in the can which can then go on to your components.

Free tip for those worried about condensation when using a blower: power down the device, remove power cord from PSU, and wait ten seconds for mobo LEDs to die out. When finished, wait at least ten seconds before connecting power cord.

I have de-dusted dozens and dozens of PCs, printers, modems, switches, routers, sat decoders, and sundry electronic devices using an industrial blower. Never once has any device been damaged in the slightest way.
