Opel corsa. Almost 10 years and never got stranded next to the road and had no major mechanical failures.

Lada Niva.
If by reliable you mean I could rely on it to have some sort of issue every month. Still loved it though.

Toyota RSi 1997.
Great power, low fuel consumption and fun to drive.
I miss that car.

My 4.5 Litre Toyota Landcruiser (4x4 sedan) .. Not the "bakkie" version. I used to drive from Jhb to Namibia & back many times each year

It guzzled Fuel (petrol) at a horrific rate, but my company paid for the fuel, so no problem. I now drive a Hilux Double Cab 4x4 bakkie ... diesel .. nowhere near as smooth and as comfortable as the Land Cruiser, but it will also go anywhere I point it ...

2006 ****ty golf. Drove the crap out of that car from new to just under 200 000km, only replaced spark plug leads once, lots and lots of front brakes, tyres a few times. And nothing else. Never let me down. Still could not wait to get rid of it. Loss R25 000 on purchase price from new when I sold it.

Never had any breakdowns on any of my vehicles (except for flat batteries). Maintained them properly. I change probably every 5 or 6 years.

My favorite was a Mazda Rustler 1300 bakkie. Great little thing that was! Can't recall the year model. Least favorite and problematic (electrics) was an Opel Astra 200i. Went like hell... but electrical nonsense, eish.
