We sit 3m from a 55" TV and its fine. Tried a 65" and it was a bit overwhelming. Also play the audio through a AV amp and decent speakers (B&Ws)

The speech quality and diction leaves a lot to be desired.
 
Like everything in life, bigger is better!!
 
If DSTV satellite was 4K then 85-98 inches. Sadly the 720p/1080i nonsense already looks pretty shoddy on a 65 inch.
 
As it stands I have a 55-inch and need to "float" my couches in the middle of the room to make it work.

Ideally a 77-inch is in my future and then I can use the whole space right up to the wall.
 
I have around 5m between me and the tv, it is a 65" but still not complaining as the last one was 42"
