What is up with the obsession about what other people earn and what they do with it?

Believe it or not this thread isn't just about you. There are quite a few different threads at the moment that centre around the topic of what people earn, how they are doing financially, etc.

Perception is the "other person" is more well-off than the individual. So with the debt you have and the income you get, you start to wonder what others make and spend it on. This is sort of a comparison to your own finances to see if you're actually doing OK or really in the crapper like you think you are....

Somebody is slowly gathering intel on MyBB posters. It seems innocent, but over time people offer up a significant amount of information about themselves. Which High School they went to, what they earn, what car they drive, etc. Anybody who was whiley enough could do a significant amount of damage with that info.

Beware.... keep on your toes. Watch out for the Lizard men... don't give out any more info.
