My Tizen-OS based Samsung smartwatch still gets updates, and works with NFC payments.

Just too bad that the battery only lasts a day and a half to two days, depending on the usage.

would love a pixel watch, but for a first time smartwarch wearer like me, decided on Samsung,
so far so good, although do wonder what happens when the support runs out.

Nope, have not. That is by choice/design.

I value the long battery life of the Huawei products.

Additionally I don't want any smartwatch to duplicate my phone, it must just do 4/5 things (well), that is it.

I’ve had both. Huawei is a glorified fitness tracker. Good if you just need that. 14 day battery life. Apple Watch is a proper smart watch. Mobile payments, wallet (loyalty cards and voucher QR codes), LTE, proper music playback, 3rd party apps, 3rd party services connect like strava, remote etc. etc. Day and half of battery life. You can’t compare the two.
